Dr. MacKay was my Doctor for a couple of years, He performed 3 surgeries on me and i had to BEG him to perform the latest technology surgery. He only did it once I asked for a referral to Seattle to have it done. Once I got notification that his practice was shutting down (with NO referrals to any other doctors) I found out that the procedure is practice quite often in Spokane just not by Dr. MacKay. He had told me No One in Spokane was doing the procedure and because he has been my doctor for a few years and my family and I trusted him I took his word for it. When he left his neurosurgery practice it he was very unhelpful and it took forever to get my records - I am so disappointed and I would not recommend ANYONE to see him.

Dr. McKay performed two spinal surgeries for me and I am happy with the outcome. He was caring, truly involved from the beginning to the end. He was very helpful with all follow up. I am disappointed that he cannot do the next one. I would give him the highest rating as a doctor and a human being.

Dr MacKay has operated on my back 3 times and each time the results were fantastic. He and his staff are so kind and professional. I look forward to his relieving my pain because I know that will be the result.

Eventhough my case was tough and others were not willing to try, he was willing to take me as a patient. I understand that a doctor has to justify the tests and hospitalizations they request. Often a doctor will not hospitalize a patient and run tests unless they are pretty sure it can be justified. Dr. McKay did that for me eventhough it seemed unlikely a cause would be found. And when it seemed like I was a nut to everyone else, he remained kind and compassionate. I did not ever feel like he was concerned about anything but helping me. And I should add, he is professinal and knew what he was doing. His persistence did lead to a cure for me. He is a very special person. Thank you so very much.

Quite simply, Dr. MacKay is my hero!! For the past 20 years he has taken excellent care of my dilapidated spine, allowing me a say inmy care! Between fusions, laminectomies and CTR's, this man has kept me walking and talking! We jest that his children have now completed college but I gently remind him I'm now working on the grand baby's education! You see, I have DDD and I will always be under his care, retirement is out of the question as long as I have a spine :-) I highly recommend this man that is a true gift from God!

Dr MacKay done a Gamma Knife procedure on me in Oct 2011, I had three cancer tumors and he was remarkable. He, his staff and the hospital staff, were kind, sincere, and supportive, making sure of my comfort while I'm fighting stage 4 cancer, Dr.A. Mackay has continued to be involved in my recovery. I would HIGHLY recommend this Dr. for his skill level and compassion for his work. HE REALLY CARES for his patients.

My husband has stage 4 lung cancer and has had gamma knife 5 times so far. Dr. Mackay has been one of his doctors for over a year and I can't say enough about him. He has been up-front with us from the start and always answers our questions to the best of our ability. I would recommend him to anyone needing a neurosurgeon.
