List of William R. Schmitt's Reviews
I had a Stapedectomy performed by Dr. Schmitt. I am extremely happy with my improved hearing and my interactions with everyone involved. There was clear and concise communication and the staff was extremely professional. Thank you for making what I thought to be a scary procedure was actually not bad at all. I trust this crew and when I need it I will go to them for my other ear (which used to be my good ear and now is is my weak ear).

Dr. Schmitt was extremely rude and arrogant. He thinks he is a know it all who refuses to do anything but write prescriptions. I have had recurrent ear and sinus infection for 6 years. The 3 times I've seen him he has cleaned my ear, given me the same treatment plan that the 2 prior times I've had it made 0 improvement on my situation and made it clear he believed it was my fault his "perfect" treatment plan didn't work. Do not let this man anywhere near you or your families issues if you want to feel like you have been heard and shown any type of concern or like there is any chance of getting better
Dr. Schmitt is in my mind as good as they get. I’ve had 4 previous unsuccessful surgeries to restore my hearing done by others. He took the time to examine me, review my current and previous records and CT scans, then reviewed again and came up with the correct procedure, which did work and now after 18 years I can hear again. He has the most efficient office I have ever been in. From scheduling to front desk personnel to audiology to all the staff in the back his ENTIRE TEAM is a finely tuned machine, they are all very friendly personably, knowledgeable, and efficient. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. 5 stars is not enough.
I recently had a cochlear implant on 08/16/2021. I had Dr. William R Schmitt for my surgeon. I was warned beforehand about after surgery symptoms of nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and headaches. I had none. Dr. Schmitt is a very skilled surgeon. I only had the normal after surgery pain for a few days.I feel blessed that he was the one who did my surgery. I had put off the surgery for longer than Dr. Schmitt wanted me to, because I was afraid of what could go wrong after I read and heard about all the things that could potentially happen. Dr. Schmitt was very thorough with his explanation of the surgery, and the rare instances of failure. After talking with him, I felt at peace, and knew it was time to get the surgery. Dr. Schmitt has a matter of fact personality. It’s not the personality that’s important, it’s the surgical skills that are important. He takes his job seriously and I feel he is one of the best. I am grateful that Dr. Schmitt was my cochlear implant surgeon. He is also my ENT doctor. He was the first ENT Doctor that diagnosed that I have a deformed cochlea. I had seen other ENT doctors for years before I saw him, and I was never told I had a deformed cochlea. I highly recommend Dr. Schmitt for any of your ENT needs. Thank you.

No one wants to need to see a neurosurgeon. Luckily, I was referred to Dr. Schmitt by Dr. Olds, who had identified a hole in my cranium leaking cranial spinal fluid. I went into my consult with Dr. Schmitt extremely anxious. I knew brain surgery was required but had concerns of the outcome due to my age and weight. Dr. Schmitt didn’t pull punches, he explained all the steps and length of the surgery in detail, his anticipated expectations post-op and reviewed his surgical track record with this type of surgery. At first I wished he had been warmer and fuzzier (like his assistant, Sara), or had left out the potential difficulties. After thinking about all the information he had provided, I had confidence in the surgery and in Dr. Schmitt as my surgeon. I really appreciated his honesty and went into the surgical procedure with great comfort in knowing what to expect. Dr. Schmitt is a meticulous and skilled surgeon and my 4/21/21 middle fossa craniotomy was a success!

Leaving the appointment, I at first wished he had been warmer and fuzzier (like his assistant, Sara), or had left out the potential difficulties. After thinking about all the information he had provided and speaking with my brother who is a surgeon, me and my family had confidence in the surgery and in Dr. Schmitt as my surgeon. I really appreciated his honesty and went into the surgical procedure with great comfort in knowing what to expect. Dr. Schmitt is a meticulous and skilled surgeon, and my middle fossa craniotomy on 4/21/21 was a success. Dr. Schmitt and his team remain active in my post-op care, coordinating with other doctors and therapy teams to ensure a full recovery. His assistant, Sara, is an important part of this process, answering questions, filling out Family Leave paperwork for my husband, and facilitating communication with Dr. Schmitt to ensure ongoing quality care. I am 2 months past my surgery and my life has already improved drastically. I no longer have cranial fluid leaking in my ear, fullness in my Eustachian tube or severe headaches that last for days. I‘ve had some minor discomfort, and a few issues with balance, speech and photopia, but with therapy anticipate a full recovery within the next couple of months. I can not say enough about the level of care I received through this entire process. I now trust Dr. Schmitt and the staff at Spokane Ear, Nose and Throat, with my care as I go forward. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Schmitt, Sara and the wonderful caring staff at Sacred Heart.
Yes, I had been struggling with reduced hearing in my left ear for a couple of years . This difference is remarkable! Thanks Dr Schmidt

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
