Saved me when I should have died I felt my aortic valve pop, followed by a big gush of blood in my chest when my dissected Aortic aneurysm blew.I was rushed from Silverton Hospital to Salem Hospital.12 1/2 hr surgery, 6 1/2 hr bypass.Dacron conduit for an aorta, with bi-leaflet aortic valve sewn in.10 drips upon arrival in the ICU.5 weeks later I was transferred out of the ICU after ARDS multiple other problems. 15 weeks total to get home. Dr. Engstad saved my life. He may be surprised I'm still here 11 years later. I'm very happy to be alive. He deserves a 5+++

Honest, straight-forward but caring Dr. Engstad did my open heart surgery to correct a birth defect. He had to cut a channel through the septum to allow blood flow. He di an amazing job and I am grateful to him every day.

He saved my sons life 3 years ago. My son got an infection in his tonsil and ended up with numerous issues, and one called necrotizing mediastinitis. My son had complained of chest pain the day before and nurses in roseburg didnt listen nest morning my son was life flighted to emanuel and i met Dr. Engstad. I think My son had 7 surgeries and at one time 5 chest tubes. The team was fantastic in portland. Dr. Engstad is wonderful.

I had a mitral valve repair with Dr. Engstad in 2012....good surgeon, valve is working fine. Thank you. Had surgery at Salem Hospital....still in pain from surgery...could have done better in that regard. But Dr. E was good

I am a local firefighter and have been in the medical field for over 25 years. My mom had an urgent open heart double bypass. When I first meet Dr. Kai Engstad I felt a huge sigh of relief she was in awesome hands. Everything about Dr. Engstad superseded my expectations. His personality, knowledge, informative , bedside manner and caring makes Dr. Engstad one of the best !!! He is a great guy and you would be fortunate having him as your Dr. / surgeon. Thank you Dr. Engstad for what you do??
