List of Thomas K. Hirota's Reviews
Just a heads up, this is one weird dude. He was hostile and short from the start. Did not ask me anything, just started talking into a voice recorder to document my skin conditions in the third person..."patient has skin lesions, etc." I felt like a cadaver. When I tried to interject to clarify something he held his hand up for me to stop talking and did not care to ask me what my question was once he was done recording. Not sure what the recording device was for because he had an assistant in the room who was scribing and coding things in the computer as he dictated. He gave me his diagnosis right after and did not care to discuss it. I asked if it would be possible for a biopsy to confirm and he got pretty huffy, saying that it is not necessary because he is 99.999% confident in his diagnosis and do I have any reason to believe he was not correct? He prescribed steroids. It did not help. It was also extremely hard to even get an appt. I had state insurance at the time and could not get an appt. My gp had to call directly to strong-arm them to schedule me. I suspect being underinsured had something to do with my treatment and their refusal to do a biopsy. I went in months later with excellent insurance to see another dermatologist and voila! they were happy to do a biopsy. Of course, results were inconclusive, and this dr. had no clue what my rash was and just gave me steroids.
He barely spent time with me and missed so areas that were basil. I requested another doctor who is fantastic. He also does not have the best caring attitude
Dr. Hirota has been my wife and my daughters' dermatologist for over 13 years. My daughter is totally handicapped. He helps and treats them with their server psoriasis. Dr. Hirota is kind, approachable, patient and supportive. He answers all our questions. We've know Dr. Hirota since my time on active duty for the US Army on Fort Lewis Washington. My wife is happy with Dr. Hirota and does not want to try another doctor.
The clinic is nice and Dr. Hiroyuki was pleasant and knowledgeable.
I was referred to Dr. Hirota by a young resident at my GP's office. He was very concerned about a spot on my nose. Dr Hirota spotted it as a simple wart. He then spent some time checking out my scalp and hands so as not to waste my time. I found him to have a delightful demeanor, confidently skilled, and I fully recommend his services.
Absolutely top-notch. Very personable, knew why I was seeing him, took care to be sure I understood what was going on, and was sensitive to my comfort. Exam, diagnosis and treatment carried out expediently and caringly.
I had an initial consult with Dr. Hirota, who tried telling me that he spent too much time with me and I asked him too many questions during my visit. The office staff is great, but I will NOT be going back to him after treating me like this. If I'm a new patient, of course I will have questions. Why would I schedule an appointment to see a doctor if I had the answers to them? I recommend seeing a different provider within the practice. Military or not, his demeanor is unpleasant.
Dr. Hirorta seemed to believe that bluster supplants competence. He misdiagnosed a serious and contagious malady, thereby affecting my spouse's permanent quality of life. That, after he had been briefed on my medical history! He reveled in dermatological mediocrity and completely wasted my time and resources. He was obviously out of his element as to my condition and ultimately gave up. As a Veteran I am appalled that a doctor of such apparent ineptness continues to practice. Awful experience
I have been to Dr Hirota's office twice in the past few months for my ongoing Psoriasis & Tinea capitis. he and his staff were very professional & listened to my concerns with my health issues. He took time to explain what was causing the issues as well as describe several methods of treatment. I have finally begun to see some relief as his correct diagnosis & treatment have helped to put me back on the road to being healthy again. Thank you!
He would not listen to me or hear me out. Very insensitive and talked over me. When I told him I was allergic almost everything, that I continue to get rashes and I would like allergy testing, so we can narrow it down, he said I can't see it now and don't have a crystal ball. He said your problem is acne and wouldn't let me justify what has been going on with me for a while now. I will never see him again, I left the office in tears.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
