Rude
Doctor Sunshine has performed surgery on both me and my daughter. His work was excellent on both of us. I haven't sensed any arrogance or rudeness, whatsoever. The only thing I sensed was a genuine concern for me and my condition. He also diagnosed another condition he discovered in a routine followup that has been going on for years and never caught by my family doctor.
It is clear after my many interactions with this man that he has dementia and should not be doing surgery on anyone - why is he still practicing
Was confused during initial visit. Had to tell him what was on xray, He had the wrong leg and wrong issue. He thought my family history was my history. Rude when he was wrong and rude when he was right. Would never go with him again. One and done. Ended up just taking a chunk of flesh instead of extracting piece of material. If remove staff and punctuality then you have his rating.
I went to Salmon Creek Hospital and it was determined that I had a small bowel perforation. Dr Sunshine was called in, and his first words were that he wasn't a GI specialist. I was on vacation in the Vancouver area, and had recently had several operations at Cedar Sinai Hospital Los Angeles. Thankfully in LA my surgeon is one of the best colorectal surgeons in the country. There was no way I could go into surgery with a doctor that wasn't a GI specialist. When I asked to see a GI surgeon, Dr. Sunshine got angry with me saying he's been practicing medicine 30yrs!! He was very rude, and arrogant!! After much back and forth debate, I was transferred to OHSU. OHSU is an outstanding hospital, with knowledgeable doctors that practice medicine within their fields. Do yourself a HUGE favor and avoid this doctor at all costs.
This man so rude about my weight, he called me "those people" and treated me like a disease
He called me "those pople" when I asked him what he meant he said a person that big. I have never felt so mortified. I won't be having surgery with him.
I presented at the ER with abdominal pain and they suspected appendicitis. After some testing they were moving towards admitting me and doing an appendectomy. The ER MD was hesitant to push me into surgery because I didn't have a fever one of the symptoms of appendicitis. He wanted to wait but Dr. Sunshine said lets take it out. After the surgery Dr Sunshine told me that it wasn't my appendix but was a little piece of fat wrapped around a nerve causing me the pain. I guess he needed the work.
I have been having a health problem for months and finally went for a consult with Dr. Sunshine. He was terrific. He was very knowledgeable and reassuring yet honest. He gave me the best information I had received from any doctor during this health crisis . His diagnosis was thankfully straightforward and no nonsense. He also recommended against surgery now, advising that I wait to see if I continue healing. Dr. Sunshine is a great doctor and an asset to The Vancouver Clinic.
Dr. Sunshine was the rudest doctor I've ever encountered. After going to the ER for severe abdominal pain, I found out I needed my gull bladder removed. Dr. Sunshine did the procedure. First he said I would be difficult to work with because I weighed nearly 200lbs. After the operation I was still in excruciating pain, Dr. Sunshine BET me it was in my head. He said nothing's wrong, and everything went well. I ended up getting A MRI, well guess who was wrong? Not me! I STILL had a lot of bile and loaded with gull stones in me, and they had to go back in and get it out. I have had bad cramping since the surgery, 4 years later!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
