List of Shauna Hornby Md's Reviews
After my son was born, his newborn screening test came back abnormal for cystic fibrosis. After learning we would be going to Seattle Children’s Hospital to get the final result I asked Dr. Hornby to leave the results on my voicemail if I did not answer my phone. She said she would. I then asked her if I needed to sign a form to verify this and she said no; me asking her was enough and she could leave a voicemail for me. (Patients are suppose to sign waivers on how they would like to receive medical results - this was not my first time asking for results over the phone but my first time not having to sign on how I want to receive results. Personally, I don’t like having to respond to someone immediately after hearing if my child is going to be healthy or not. How a patient receives information is up to the patient, NOT the doctor.) Now, that we had the sweat test complete from Seattle Children’s we were waiting on the results and were told by the doctor there we would have them by the end of the day. While driving over Blewett Pass we did not have service for sometime. When I got to an area with service, about the top of the pass, I saw I had a voicemail. I anxiously played the voicemail only to hear that she did not leave the results, but that she did indeed have them. I tried calling the office to speak with her immediately. I could get through but they could not hear me. I then received another voicemail saying that she was leaving the office at 5 but would be back in the next morning at 8am. We sped over the pass at fast as we but didn't get service til 5:15. I then called and requested to have a nurse call back. When the nurse called me back she was from Seattle Children’s and she said she had the results but wasn’t able to disclose the information because she was not a physician. She then tried to get another physician to call me back that night but they never did. The next morning at 8:00 I called Dr. Hornby to get the results. She was not in. I called back at 8:15 and she was still not in. I then told the receptionist I was going to come down to the office to get the results. After that she transferred me to a nurse and the nurse gave me the results. This is illegal and although I’m so grateful that the nurse did this for me if a nurse was going to give me the results illegally I could have gotten them the previous night. The results came back negative and the nurse told me I didn’t get the results over voicemail because “they were complicated.” Nothing is complicated about leaving a worried mother a voicemail that says “great news, the sweat test came back negative and your son does not have cystic fibrosis! I hope you have a great night! I’m so happy for you guys!” Instead, Dr. Hornby didn’t call me with the results until 1pm. When she called she was callus, cold and showed no emotion. When I asked why she didn’t leave a voicemail she said she thought it would be more appropriate to tell me over the phone. This was NOT her decision to make and not what we previously agreed on. The stress experienced from this was unnecessary and this entire situation could have been handled more professionally by Dr. Hornby and her office. I apologize for the long review but I hope this detailed review will give the office of Columbia Pediatrics a better understanding of how to handle similar situations. All in all, I would not recommend Dr. Hornby as a doctor; she seems to lack empathy, does’t seem to care much about her patients and has an overall callous approach at being a doctor and relating to others.
She is very helpful & gives very good advice! I always call when I have ?'s and she or nurse always gets back to me. She is very sweet to my kids & i feel like she takes the time to get to know us. I highly recommend Dr. Hornby!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
