Took my Daughter here for a procedure. Which was preformed by Dr. Nathan Frost. The facility was vary clean and they are going above and beyond on following the COVID-19 protocols. The Doctors, Nurses and Staff were all great and My daughter felt vary comfortable, safe and liked the entire staff.
First off, if you are going to ask anyone at this facility about obtaining an exemption from the mask mandate, they will tell you that they follow the CDC and the Governors recommendations regarding this.... only they dont. If pressed, you will eventually hear that it is against Multicares policy to issue any letters supporting an individuals ability to not wear a mask in a public place for any reason. Now, specifically, Dr Shannon Rice has repeatedly proven that she is dishonest, she doesnt listen to or review her patients current needs or medical history, and she routinely puts the needs of her patients far behind other concerns. Her work ethic leaves a lot to be desired, and she has failed to go to any inconvenience for the wellbeing of her patients. She completes the bare minimum standards to achieve positive patient outcomes and is not a doctor that anyone can rely on for professional, prompt, or courteous service regarding their medical needs.Dr Rice is insensitive and insincere as a medical professional and she and her staff drop the ball regularly on patients, making the people she is supposed to be serving do most of the work for their own care. When scheduling appointments, on her 3 days per week in the office, she regularly runs behind schedule, making some patients wait over an hour. She is an embarrassment to the Medical profession in general, particularly the Gig Harbor Clinic.
After waiting almost six weeks for an appointment with Dr Blaisdell, she canceled my appointment two hours before it was scheduled. I had then had to call back in, waiting ten minutes to just get a person, and was rescheduled a week later. The day before the second appointment, I got another call that Dr Blaisdell had to also cancel my second appointment. I called in again.. waiting on hold again, and got a person that couldnt schedule me any time soon. So I escalated the issue and finally got to Jackie , her nurse i think, after another round of phone tag, and then I was asked to wait another ten days. Apparently the Dr has a lot of rules around scheduling... no new patients in the afternoon, no patients at all on Wednesdays. I have no idea what kind of DR she is, but she obviously has a monstrous ego and has no problem jerking people around. After taking two days off for appointments that got canceled, and not getting the medical care that I really need, Im going to try with a completely different facility. I will also be escalating to MultiCare management.
Always fast and very caring
Don't ever be late for an appointment...even though they have ZERO parking...because they could care less about you as a patient...no matter how many years you've been a patient there or how severe your emergency is...THEY WILL NOT SEE YOU!!!!!
MultiCare Gig Harbor is an amazing organization, with wonderful staff. Personally, I believe it deserves a much higher rating than it currently has. The facilities are well kept and clean, the staff are uber friendly, and they continue to be one of the more efficient medical centers around. My recent experience with Shannon Rice, ARNP was extraordinary - caring, professional and extremely knowledgeable. A huge thumps up to her and the rest of the nursing staff. You all are great and I am so glad that I have you as my Primary Care professional.
Helpful friendly staff who made the experience comfortable for me.
I have nothing but great experiences here. I have my general dr at this facility and have appointments regularly. I also have seen an ortho here. I come to the lab often for testing and have great experiences with that as well. I have used their urgent care and pediatric express also great staff and drs. There are often long wait times. But that is expected with any medical establishment Ive been to. Highly recommend!
Between my wife and I, we have seen 3 different doctors for 3 different reasons, none of which included anxiety or depression. All 3 times we walked out with prescriptions for Lexapro even though we said we dont need or want to be on antidepressants and were shocked to be offered it, being so far removed from our symptoms. Whatever the Lexapro pharm rep is doing to buy this office he or she is on their game. And this whole office is obviously for sale. I didnt know Lexapro cured any and everything.
This clinic regularly overcharges the patients (three times in the past five years for my family), then refuses to correct their errors. The nursing supervisor commits to follow-up, but doesn't. The docs won't communicate with patients to correct the errors. Ultimately, you'll pay more for less. Moving on.....
I used to like this place and the whole family would go here when unable to get in with our PCP urgently. However, they dropped our insurance from their contracted insurance providers at the beginning of 2018. The problem is that when I went to the facility the person at the desk told me that our insurance was still contracted with them and took my copay. WELL, turns out our insurance is not contracted with them and we are now stuck with a HUGE bill. The people at the financial office are rude period. I asked if I can dispute the charges because they gave me the wrong information and they said " I can dispute the charges if you want but the charges will still stand"... Somehow they knew that they would not do anything to help us even before we asked? This has caused our family a lot of grief and I will never go here again. The Multicare company does not care about the patients but only about making money. Go across the street to Franciscan where at least you can be sure you won't be stuck with a huge bill.
I waited several weeks for a "consultation". MultiCare billed me for a 40 minute visit; I was there for 20. I paid the amount due and they lost my payment even though it was cleared through my HSA account. MC called me multiple times and each time I explained it was paid. They threatened me with collection. I spend hours with them on the phone repeating my story and then finally provided copies of the checks. In the meantime they continued to bill me. I called multiple times (Multi-calls, Multi hours, Multi stress) and finally the balance was zero. They informed me that they do not send a zero balance statement. This was such a hassle over many weeks. No notification, no apology, nothing. Never again Multicare! Horrible billing practices and bookkeeping.
This place is fantastic! The only bad thing is the parking lot access was designed by someone who won a blue ribbon at the state fair. This place is great and easy to navigate with the information Booth right in the middle. The staff was professional and made every effort to make me comfortable and everything was just great! Other hospitals should use this place as a model on how to be. Five stars and three smiles 😁😁😁
They sent me two bills under two account numbers for one visit. Why? They harassed me for a month before I could figure out what was going on since I had already paid the bill. Rude financial department. And like the other reviewer said, they WAY OVERCHARGE for a simple office visit. And despite being self pay and asking if they could provide any financial assistance (NO was their answer repeatedly) They never offered to give a self pay discount until I was desperate and asked perhaps do you have any discount like for self payers? Then they said "oh yea we can give you a discount for that."So in summary, Overcharge, Rude, Don't know what they are doing, Don't want to help... Sound like a good place to get medical care?
Has a great cardiac rehabilitation center, including nutrition classes helping us to change, so we mite live a longer healthier life.
For the first three years they couldn’t remember who I was. You will wait forever past your appoitment time. I called because my prescription wasn’t refilled. When I asked about why my phone call was not returned I was told “we get 180 calls a day it’s not possible to get to them all”. I have been ran out of my medication for almost two weeks due to a staffing change. There is no returned phone calls on why the medication has not been issued. They would say you have to have an appointment scheduled, I do. You weren’t suppose to take the medication as it is prescribed on the directions from the doctor, it has to last 28-30 days. The direction per the doctor’s orders was written as 1 tab every four hours, that would be 180 pills for 30 days. The prescription bottle only comes with 110 pills sometimes 124. I was told “It is my fault I did not follow the directions” and I can not have more medication. At what point did I not follow the directions? This office rescheduled my appointments for six months, while a nurse practitioner was out on medical. I demanded to see a physician July because my pain levels had increased. I do not feel that patient care is important to this company based on the way I was treated. I had a nurse announce a procedre that I needed to have done in the lobby in front of room full of people, not only was I embarrassed, I think that goes against HIPA. The office has a few good telephone and scheduling personal who try to make up for the horrible way patients are treated, but they have no authority and are not empowered by the company to fix anything. I could go on with more stuff that happen in 2018 but it has now carried over to 2019. I am seeking a new place for my patient care, I deserve to be valued as human being. I am billed $150 for an office visit that usually lasts less than 20 minutes with the physician.
Came in today with my newborn baby to get lab work done. The laboratorys receptionist (Sam) is beyond RUDE, Has no customer service skills. When I arrived the lobby was empty therefore I was the first patient to check in, as we check in she wont even let me speak and quickly asks for my daughters last name and date of birth then said she couldnt find it so then tells me to call my daughters PCP and ask them if they had sent orders, after waiting there about 15 minutes she decided to check again mean while Im on the phone with my daughters PCP trying to figure out why the orders havent got there if they had sent them over. Turns out Sam didnt look for them properly and had finally found them, after she found them she had us wait another 30 minutes to be seen mean while she let about 6 patients ahead of us even though we had arrived before everyone. This is absurd and I hope someone talks to her about how she treats patients. The phlebotomist are great but its such a shame their receptionists make the visit so unpleasant, Never will I ever come back here again.
The DO was nice but the receptionists and 1 of the assistants (like someone mentioned before) are kinda rude... i mean if they dont like you or something... at least PRETEND... people go to the Dr afraid and expecting to be treated nice and not like you have to beg them for them not to be bxxchy and be sorry if you are not comfortable and if you are gonna talk bad about ppl at least wait until they leave.....
Ive seen one provider thus far at Multicare Gig Harbor, so I cant speak about anyone else there. I saw Dr. Scott Balson because hes supposed to be a gerontologist who sees patients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Well, he shouldnt be allowed to see female patients. I have adopted a three strikes and youre out policy when it comes to drs, and some of them dont even make it that far. I gave him three opportunities, and in each of three office visits, he did the exact same thing. Hes one of these middleaged male drs who are bored with middleaged womens health problems, thinks were all hypochondriacs, and three times tried to coerce me into a psychiatry referral. I called and spoke to his assistant after the last visit, and I told him I am a strong, independent, woman, and the last thing I need is a male dr blowing me off like that, mansplaining anything, that women are proven to be stronger emotionally than men, and that if he and Dr. Balson had been through half of what Ive been through in my life, theyd be whining under the table like little girls. I received a survey from Multicare Gig Harbor, and I reported all this. Theres no excuse for this, whatsoever. Its insulting to a womans intelligence, esp mine, as I am intelligent, highlyeducated, and worked in the healthcare and academia environments, so if there are any women out there looking for a PCP, stay away from this guy.
MultiCare Gig Harbor has been my health care choice for years. They are the bomb. The guy at the reception desk is hilarious and wonderful, the staff has dealt with my crazy anxiety that comes raging about once or twice a year gracefully ( I get full blown crazy and they assure me Im not...awww..but ya, I am), Dr. Trott listens, hes real, and when I feel like every bone in my body is on fire or breaking they are compassionate. HOWEVER, THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT THE ONE AND ONLY PERSON IVE EVER HEARD ON THAT STAFF THAT SOUNDED LIKE A COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL ASS TODAY. MultiCare gets 5 stars but the lady screaming and insulting their two amazing pharmacists needs 1) to learn how to communicate professionally with her coworkers 2) Put a volume knob on her loud outbursts and 3) Stop insulting and talking down to the pharmacists about loading paper in the copier within ear shot of your patients. Those of us waiting that heard her belittling them ( for the serious crime of running out of printer paper ) were astounded and embarrassed for them. Luckily for HER they went ghost and went on working. If I worked near her and she spoke to me like that, shed get a pill bottle stuffed into that rude piehole. MultiCare gets 5 stars, but whoever the printer nazi is gets zero. I wish I could identify her but she was screaming from behind view. Jerk.
