List of Thomas Tackman Md's Reviews
Had my first appointment with Dr. Tackman. I found him very professional and knowledgeable. He was spot on with his advice about my prescriptions, and took plenty of time to talk about my medical history. I'm a 62 year old male.
Patient of Dr. Tackman's for about 15 years and have had absolutely no issues with his treatment of my various ailments-which seem to 'progress' as I get older. His bedside manner is warm, with appropriate questions and treatments. I have never had an issue with getting an appointment nor in any inordinate wait time.
I have been a patient of Dr. Tackman for the past 20 years. The only family physician I have had in past in whom I had the same (or a tad more) confidence was my uncle, Dr. F.X. van Lieshout. One reviewer gave him low marks because of something that ran against the grain of his religious convictions; however those same convictions make me wonder about the other writer's statement on his seemingly lack of compassion. If anything, it is his compassion and excellent 'bedside' manner that is the driver in my confidence in Dr. Tackamn
Dr Tackman checked my records and tests, asked a couple questions, diagnosed my problem and prescribed the proper medication - within a couple days I was greatly improved! I went to him a month later to confirm that the meds were working properly. All good - if I ever have a medical issue in the Whitewater/Fort Atkinson area, Dr Tackman would be my choice!
My appointment was for 10:10 for eye pain, eye floaters, dizziness and a blackness developing in my eyes. I waited until 10:25 for the receptionist, after 11 minutes she hung up the phone and started to type. She ignored me until 10:30 and told me that I was too late for my appointment and could not be seen today. I told her it was difficult to drive, she told me to find a ophthalmologist for my problem. I felt she was rude, uncaring and I went home crying. I would not recommend this office.
I scheduled a pap exam with Dr. Tackman and asked the nurse also about getting birth control. She said that Dr. Tackman would probably not prescribe birth control to me, but then she asked if I was married. I said no, and she confirmed he wouldn't because of me being unmarried and because of his own religious beliefs. I then decided just to do a normal physical as it wouldn't make sense to have him do a pap exam only for me to get another pap exam done somewhere else to get birth control. Not to mention I was already extremely uncomfortable at this point. Dr. Tackman spent maybe 5 minutes doing the physical and asking questions. When he was done he just walked out without saying a word. He made me feel very judged and uncomfortable while I was with him, and I will never go back to him.
This doctor won't prescribe Birth Control unless you are married.
Get a 2nd opinion from another professional before getting a prescription from him! I lost my eye sight as a result of him prescribing a medicine for other than what it was supposed to be used for.
Dr. Tackman was annoyed when I said I couldn't afford expensive diagnostic testing for a medical condition I've had for many years. In my opinion, he was abrupt, authoritarian, and did not like my asking questions about his decisions. I would not feel comfortable with Dr. Tackman as my physician.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
