My family and I have worked with Dr. McMahon for the last 10 years. Great with my kiddos and I think he has 4 or 5 himself! Bless anyone that can have more than 2! He’s always gone the extra mile and so has anyone else I’ve worked with in his office. I recently moved to Texas and still looking for as good of care as we had with their offices. As I go through another (non) allergy season, I’m reminded to be thankful for him and for the allergy shot program that got me feeling normal.
I can not say enough good things about Dr. McMahon and The Allergy and Asthma Center of Minnesota. He truly is a top-notch doctor! He is intelligent, personable, and very up-to-date on the latest research. I see him as an adult for my extreme asthma and my daughter just finished his peanut oral immunotherapy (OIT) program and is now able to eat peanuts! Being able to watch my daughters confidence grow from her food allergy and not be so scared of what she eats has been such a relief and truly a life changing experience. I'm comforted knowing my care is in the best hands around!
McMahon was my allergist at the U -- went to him with severe sinus symptoms in 2018, got a CT scan I was told was fine and got Zyrtec for my 'cat allergy.' Spent thousands on HEPA filters, vacuums, McMahon told me I needed to give away my cat. Saw a new U provider today who immediately showed me my 2018 CT scan revealing a SEVERELY deviated septum ("it doesn't take a doctor to see what's wrong with you"). I need septoplasty. I cannot, cannot CANNOT believe I spent 3 years in total congested misery when I could have fixed it back then. The U is better without him!
I've been a patient of Dr. McMahon's for years. I would not recommend him due to his lack of communication. When he left U of M Health, Center for Lung Science and Health and went into private practice I was not notified at all, further; he did not tell me I'd need to be seen 1x/year when doing allergy shots. Additionally, the communication from him and the clinic of where I receive the shots were terrible. When he went into private practice and due to his lack of communication, my serum was not ordered. I had finally reached the 1x/month and due to this will have to go back. Shots are costly and his care is not worth the cost. With so much tech at our fingertips, it boggles my mind why I didn't receive a letter or email stating he was leaving. I do not recommend this doctor.
Personable and intelligent. Questions answered in a timley fashion.
Fantastic doctor! Very knowledgable. Highly recommend.
So thankful for the first appointment with Dr. McMahon! He is aware of the latest research in his field. He is personable and knowledgeable. My husband left the appointment feeling like he found a specialist who will actively pursue solutions to his many health problems. The nurse was also very friendly, personable and efficient.
Great doctor! Took the time to really listen to me and put me on an effective plan. Doesn't just push drugs, really listens and looks back on history to provide tailored plan.
Very knowledgable, nice, provides a good action plan. Helped me tremendously!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
