My spouce had staged Achilles procedures for a chronic degenerative problem and had an excellent result- he was very thorough & kind- as a referring physician I have sent multiple patients to him for complex foot & ankle issues & he has always been up to even the most challenging problem- he is one of the best foot & ankle surgeons in our state

I have the highest regard for DrG, PA Paul, PA Marina, tech Pam and all the staff. Dr G had been recommended to me by my podiatrist( "your feet required someone over my pay grade") and I saw where he was rated as the best foot and ankle doc by Milwaukee Magazine. Fifteen years ago Dr G performed a triple arthrodesis which involves fusing three sets of lateral bones on my left ankle after years of sports and probably abuse. I couldn't walk around the block without pain prior to the surgery. I wanted an ankle replacement but Dr G said empathetically that my foot at that point wouldn't tolerate an TAR. He warned me that it would be a long recovery. It was. Two years later i had my right ankle fixed with another triple D. Those operations enabled me to resume my over active hobbies- x-c skiing, 30 mile bike rides, sea kayaking, hour dog walks with hiking poles and often to excess. So the triple D's wore out. I now am back in a shoe after my ankle replacement 10/11/2023 and left ankle done last year. The ankle replacements were now possible because the ankle structures after the triple D's could tolertate the TARS. I will resume my active lifestyle going back to the pool tomorrow and 15 min easy stationary bike ride today. My advise to anyone considering a serious foot and ankle procedure is to be ready for a lengthy recovery which can be accelerated by being in your best shape prior, finding reading or other diversions. eating less so as not to put on pounds, and working hard at rehab in PT and then not being stupid like I used to be. I was astounded to read the reviews characterizing Dr G and PA Paul as unempathetic. My experience was that they care very much for their patients, but will not hold your hand and baby you. They are straight shooters and very much want their patients to have successful outcomes. I believe the outcome depends as much on the patients i.e. doing your P.T. conscientiously and having healthy life styles. These guys are the best and I let everone know it.

Dr Guehlsdorf and Paul Santerelli PA have been taking carevof me for many years. They both really care for me and their patients. They are very personable, knowledgeable and kind.

Went in for a hammertoe issue and ball of foot pain. Upon examination said I had a torn a plantar plate as well as had the hammertoe. Told me they would fix the tear and the hammertoe and shorten the toe with surgery. Long story short, they never explained exactly what they would be doing, ignored problems with the healing process (very gross), did not talk about any therapy, and at my last visit, was told oh well, see ya, your all done. I have a "floating" second toe (was hammertoe) which is also twice the size (fat) as it was before and the other toes, cannot move that toe AT ALL, apparently have a screw in my foot to fix the torn plantar plate which has become a large bump on top of my foot, am in pain every day unless I don't walk on my foot at all, and albeit, nerve damage. My pinkie toe and the one next to it gets excruciating electric pain at times when I move them...didn't have that before I saw this surgeon. Now I have to try and find someone who will actually fix whatever the heck he did with my plantar plate and hope to be pain free at some point...not to mention wear something more than an oversized tennis shoe on my foot. Lots more details of visits could be shared. Just really upset how this all turned out. If you have had foot surgery - you know how long and painful the process is. Now I will most likely have to go through it again. Unreal

Dr. Guehlstrof and his team fixed my ATL with Brostrom Repair InternalBrace Ligament Augmentation several years ago and it is 100% repaired and as good as new. There's minimal scarring and I'm so grateful for him and his associates! Wonderful work and follow-up care for my ankle.

The worst...

I had major foot reconstruction and he messed up my foot. Anytime I had a concern he's answer was we did alot of work. I regret the day I went to him. 1 year and half later lots of pain and had to redo what he did.

Beware: Dr. Daniel Guehlstrof, orthopedist in Milwaukee, refuses to wear a mask even if a high-risk patient requests it. When we have a tripledemic underway. We asked for him to do so, he refused.
