List of Richard Harrison Md's Reviews
I had back surgery done last month for a ruptured disc in the Lumbar area of my back between disc 4 and 5. Dr. Harrison and his staff were really caring and did a great job. He is a very good doctor.
I had spinal fusion back surgery by Harrison 2 1/2 years ago which left me paralyzed from the waist down. He told me I would walk out in 2-3 days like I walked in. His crime is he did not acknowledge the signs that my spinal cord nerves were compressed or pinched off. You have 36-48 hr to uncompress these nerves before there is long term or permanent damage. He DID NOTHING. When he finally did an MRI 4 days later, he said it showed nothing. I finally had 2 other back surgeons look at that MRI who both said my spinal cord nerves were compressed and you need surgery right away. When I told that to Harrison, he said he didn't believe it. I finally ended up in California to have a second surgery to fix my mess, but the damage was done. I still can't move my ankles, feet or toes and have to wear braces and use a cane to walk. I have had pain, often severe, every day since the first surgery. I am telling my story so you really think about who you choose for a surgeon and not make the mistake I made.
I had spinal fusion back surgery by Harrison on 10/11/18 which left me paralyzed from the waist down. I mistakenly trusted him when he said my nerves were inflamed from a spinal fluid leak during surgery which was patched. He never ran any tests in the 36-48 hr time period you have to un-pinch the spinal cord nerves before there is long term or permanent damage. When he finally did an MRI 4 days later at my husband's insistence, and then he couldn't see that my spinal cord nerves were compressed. I sent that MRI off to 3 other surgeons who all agreed the nerves were compressed and I needed surgery right away. Harrison said "I don't believe that". Long story short I finally had surgery 17 days later in CA, but the damage was done. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to him.
Wow. Some of the past reviews are surprising. I’ve been treated by Dr Harrison a few times now and I’ve always been thoroughly impressed. He’s always been attentive and every diagnosis and treatment have been spot on. I would highly recommend him.
I would recommend Dr. Harrison. My back is much better after surgery. No more numbness or pain.
Dr. Harrison and his entire staff at Aurora are nothing short of amazing! I have been dealing with him for a few years for degenerate neurological disorder and find him to be very informative, compassionate, and thorough. The other reviews are Not even close to what I have experienced and he has a great rating with Healthgrades.
Has helped!!! After all I didn't give him a lot to work with! If your having problems don't wait A doctor can only do so much . His staff Listened to what I had to say and was very helpful .
So not impressed with this doctor. Everything he told us, the opposite happened. His nurse and receptionist is extremely rude and act like they are the "doctor". His schedule is very hard to get into, especially if you have a job. Very non-considerate doctor and staff. I hope anyone who deals with this team doesn't experience what we did. My husband had his second back surgery with Harrison and follow ups. We dealt with him and his staff for a year.
Seemed competent but had no personality and did not listen well at all. Also went off over a year old MRI to diagnose current issues which were not resolved with my visit. I had to see another doctor to get my diagnosis and proper medication and treatment.
He isn't very friendly and misdiagnosed me. Would not recommend him to anybody!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
