American Family Children's Hospital's Online Review Report Card

It's a great hospital

AFCH/UW needs new leadership in order to succeed. The nurses have been nothing short of amazing for our family throughout the years. However, new leadership is needed to keep the heart of UW Kids pumping to survive. As it stands now the leadership is sinking and they are taking the the whole system with them...AFCH has been slowing dying over the course of four years. Now the hospital is in dire need of saving before it becomes its own demise. Morale for employees is at an all time low, providers are burned out (even before Covid) and the patients are suffering for it. Families who spend a lot of time here need some light...and when you walk into AFCH it feels cold and dark. The gift shop which is one of the first things you see when you walk in is empty, the theater is closed for storage...the atmosphere is uninviting. Get back to a place of healing instead of becoming the death of a once beautiful place for children.

As much as is sucks to have your kid admitted to the hospital, AFCH is the BEST most comprehensive health care for children on the planet. Granted, we don’t have like anything to compare it to, but don’t know how it could be beat. Entire staff is phenomenal. Accommodations are exceptional. Utmost attention to safety and cleanliness. Child Life and focus on comfort absolutely outstanding. And kiddo loves the food and ipad ordering. Shout out to Epic for best of EHR and MyChart Bedside. It’s nice to know that the third trip to the hospital in 6months and my daughter looks forward to her food service! She’ll actually wake up early every morning just to get her order in :) Now THAT’s a great start to an otherwise trying and uncertain day. THANK YOU AFCH ❤️

This place is Amazing!!!! They have been treating my son for almost 2 months now and always respectful and caring. The best hospital care we have ever received. Very informative, answers all my questions in detail( no matter how silly they may seem). Very patient with our worries and concerns. Staff is always very nice and make sure we are very comfortable.

My family has gotten quiet a few items from the Safety Center and recently this time and the last time I came in Will answered the phone then helped me at pick up he is awesome. So honest he helped me pick a better seat than I initially wanted I didn’t feel pressured or rushed to get the more expensive car seat. He also showed me how to install our new seat so I knew how to do it instead of just doing it for me. 10\10 recommend the safety center and Will

Nurses are not required to vaccinate even though the majority of their patients are too young to be vaccinated themselves. I know many nurses here that do not have the COVID or FLU vaccination. :(

Worst experience ever the staff was VERY mean & never even gave us any pillows or blankets for the kids. They kept badgering and making them feel uncomfortable and now they’re having nightmares and won’t talk. The staff left us alone and didn’t even come in for over 1 hour. To check up let us know anything to do nothing. They didn’t care about anything until we were leaving.

They did an amazing job with our 5 week old son who came in with RSV. The respiratory therapist was by far our favorite (her name is Maya) she spent a lot of time with him and really helped us to understand everything that was going on. The ICU team was also amazing at keeping an eye on him and making sure we had what we needed during our unexpected 5 day stay.

We spent 60 days in this hospital. Our son was on death’s doorstep and the staff here rallied and saved his life. I can’t say enough about the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, therapies, technicians, pharmacists, custodial staff, security, social worker, receptionists, parking attendants, etc. The list goes on and on. I wish I could do justice for every person that we dealt with. Pure professionalism from top to bottom. Thank you all. We will never forget you.
