List of Ian Grimes's Reviews
Dr Grimes has been instrumental in the treatment of my illness and has always been very kind, understanding and explains everything. He is skilled in dealing with GI diseases, and knowledgeable about my colitis. I travel to see him in Madison, and feel comfortable with him on my case. I also bring my disabled son for treatment from Dr Grimes; my son has crohns.
I cannot thank Dr Grimes enough. He caught my husband’s very early stage colon cancer during a colonoscopy where others may not have have. During further treatment, even the Chief of Surgery said, “Good catch on him. Would have been missed by so many.”
Dr. Grimes is one of the kindest, most understanding doctors I have. He takes the time during every appointment to make sure I have every concern adressed. I never once have felt rushed, I can certainly tell that he is a caring a dedicated doctor. He is very quick to answer an email I send him on Mychart with any concern, including ordering blood work or testing when I am getting sick, to quickly avoid hospitalizations if we can. He always has been very helpful and kind. I appeciate all Dr. Grimes has done for me, and continues to do to help me with my complex health conditions. I have Crohns and Gastroparesis, making my care a little harder, however I can tell that Dr. Grimes truly cares about me and that is a wonderful quality that he has. I am very greatful for him, his nurses, Erlene and Jinki. Thank you Dr. Grimes for all your help! _ Stephanie
Dr. Grimes is usually rushed and does not take his time with patients to respond to their questions. He is impatient and not willing to explore questions related to procedures that he performs on his patients. He shows visible annoyance when there are more than one or two questions and does not tolerate questions related to possible procedural outcomes. Dr. Grimes openly indicated that the patient undergoing the procedure had a 50/50 chance of being able to remember the post-procedural follow up and then told the patient to hold questions for after the procedure- even though it was likely the patient would be incoherent at that time. Upon pointing this out Dr. Grimes then indicated we visit a clinic and not ask him these questions. This is the second procedure we have had to deal with Dr. Grimes and it was just as unpleasant this time as the last time. The first procedure Dr. Grimes was insisting on holding the conversation directly with the patient - who was wholly unable to intelligibly communicate. When I made him aware that he should be talking with me he indicated that he had to work through the patient. It was incredibly frustrating to watch this interaction. Had it not been for the whole scenario centering around a loved one it could make for some entertaining sitcom fodder about how our health care system is failing us in the worst ways.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
