List of Stefan Zachary's Reviews
After 4 years of progressive pain and deteriating strength with the thumb in my dominant hand, I went to Dr. Stefan Zachary for a second opinion. Dr. Zachary ordered x-rays and explained the treatment options. During the same visit, I elected to have an injection, with the understanding that if the pain was not resolved within a few weeks, then surgery would be the next option. Dr. Zachary advised to schedule a follow-up visit in 3 months. I am glad a follow-up visit was scheduled at that time, as the injection did not resolve the pain. At the follow-up visit, Dr. Zachary listened and answered all of my questions related to the surgery and about what to expect post-surgery. The surgery was scheduled and completed within 2 months. The day of the surgery, the entire care team was very professional, efficient, attentive and communicated well.
Tremendously inept. Cannot believe the hack job he did on my fingers. Should not be allowed to perform surgery
Dr. Zachary is one of the top hand surgeons in Madison, if not the BEST. I certify this from a personal/patient perspective AND from a professional level (as I have dealt with most Wisc hand surgeons as an insurance claim/impairment adjudicator for most of my 40-yr work career).
He is a very dismissive and has no practical listening skills. I do not feel he properly reviews his patients medical records if at all. He is disrespectful.
I saw Dr Zachary for a second opinion. He thoroughly explained all of my treatment options, both surgical and nonsurgical. I left feeling much more optimistic, with a much better understanding of how my condition will progress, how to manage it and when it will be time to consider surgery.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
