Review Summary
Columbia St. Mary's Milwaukee received 44.9% positive feedback, with patients praising the compassionate staff and professional medical care. However, 55.1% of the feedback was negative, primarily citing rude staff, long wait times, and poor communication. Overall, the practice is appreciated for its expert care, yet it needs better time management and improved patient interaction.ScoreDoc Score

I can only thank this facility and it's staff for taking care of a family member the last couple months. The services provided were deeply appreciated and respected. Thank you so very much. Joe and Dianna.
Beware of this “hospital” let me warn anyone who reads this before it’s to late, that this place is not actually a real hospital, but rather bunch of rude uneducated cruel and selfish people dressed up in doctor and nurses costumes. The worst medical staff I have ever seen in my life! Its astonishing to witness so many incompetent people in this field and somehow they’re all under the same roof! Someone for the love of God, please shut this house of horrors/ torture chamber down before they can hurt anymore people!!!
My fiancée was a patient in the ER due to fears of a miscarriage and we were there for 5 HOURS and she maybe answered 3 questions, we were told nothing and nobody seemed even slightly concerned that she was experiencing heavy bleeding for an extended period of time the staff here are horrible
Absolutely appalled at the way we were treated by a traveling nurse yesterday. We listened to him tell military stories which were of no relevance to the patient. He was condescending and refused to listen. At one point, he asked me he needed to get me medication because I was "pacing and on the phone". When I replied that I was calling the patients mother, he asked why? Are you kidding me? He talked around my questions and acted like I was inept, which I am not. When I asked him to let me know if another surgery would take place so I could make sure I was there with the patient, he told me I couldn't go into surgery with her and that she wouldn't be alone if I wasn't there. This guy has terrible bedside manner and has no business working patient care
This hospital is such a disgrace. The ER nurses are no help at all. They talk to you any type of way they want. From name calling to down right planning things against you. If you are black they treat you like garbage or if you are apart of the LGBT community. Save yourself a trip and go somewhere else. I've heard many horror stories and my experience was horrible. Needs to be shut down.
I was discharged a week ago and cannot reach a single person who took care of me at the hospital. I have been running a fever since I left and nobody will help. They just tell me to contact my PCP who is not with Ascension. Not a single contact number on my discharge paperwork. I left my FMLA paperwork the "care team" who said they would have the doctor fill it out an return. That didn't happen . . . when I call the hospital they said they can't help or see my records now that I have been discharged. I went to the ER in a medical crisis because the hospital is close and was admitted - I would have gone to Froedtert if I thought I would be admitted. I have read the bad press about Columbia St. Mary's and now I know why people are saying care is not good. Once you free up the bed they just wash their hands of you and your care.
I have lost ALL faith in the Ascension group. I called Customer service on two different occasions to setup a payment plan. I received a confirmation number etc. afterward, but both times it turned out that no payment plan was setup. Recently, there are too many things that I experience with this medical group that makes me wonder what is going on in Management level. I will be looking at a different Medical System for my and my families future medical needs.
Honestly a poor experience. Reception was wonderful, the actual doctor was very nice. The nurses just weren’t it, wait time was long even though it was just me. It was obvious they were training a new nurse but it looked like the blind leading the blind. They forgot to do one of the two test I was there for - then called me laughing about it. I don’t think it’s funny. I’m there to make sure my heart is okay - guess I’ll go through the weekend not knowing - hearts not that important anyway right? Hilarious.
My mother was a patient here a week ago. The conditions were deplorable. She was there for 2 weeks and the room was cleaned 1 or 2 times. The nursing staff wasn't much better. I believe they may have come 6 her room 1 time per visit. And I visited her at least every other day. You can bet I'll never be a patient there.
22 weeks pregnant and had to go to the ER for what essentially became a kidney infection. The nurses and doctor who I first saw upon arrival were probably the most attentive—I didn’t appreciate the unnecessary amount of tape that was wrapped around my IV that later had to be ripped off and a different nurse commented about it’s excessiveness— but I was mostly forgotten about once I got a room. I will say I got admitted very quickly, but that may be because some staff thought I was in labor when I arrived. Either way, I am still grateful for that. I was allowed one type of pain med every hour and another every four hours, but tracking anyone down to receive medication was nearly impossible. I went 4-5 hours at a time without being checked on when my pain level was highest. One nurse said she didn’t know what she could give me (it was in my chart and written on a board??) and would need to check with the doctor. This man returned and gave me a difficult time about the pain meds I had already received (which was hours and hours ago) and the proceeded to clench his fist and knock (felt more like punch) on my side/back to confirm what a scan had already shown… my kidneys were inflamed. I yelled out in pain! What kind of doctor does this?! He told me he wouldn’t have chosen the pain meds they originally gave me… ok? So choose something else? Never saw him again despite the same nurse stating that he would come in to explain his assessment of what might be going on. Nurse on staff that day was weirdly aloof and didn’t make eye contact… just the opposite disposition you want from a nurse. She also gave me strange looks when I requested pain meds (I think I requested them only two times because I was worried about the impact on my baby even though another nurse said it was completely safe.) I asked her why she wasn’t asking about my pain and she said they try not to push pain meds, but I was referring to a standard of care not getting more drugs! No one communicated to me that I was supposed to be on a clear liquid diet either, so I was confused why not even a snack was offered… had to find out from room service. I did have a really kind nurse at night after the 1st shift nurse, but at that point I’d received antibiotics and wasn’t in as much pain. Getting discharged here was a nightmare. A nurse came in several times (after I called) to say she would try to track someone down but no one came to explain anything until about 2 pm. I am so grateful I already chose to go with Froedert to give birth based on word of mouth that this hospital is not what it used to be, as everything I experienced was a reflection of that. I can empathize with low staffing and poor working conditions from my own experience in the medical field, but the unprofessionalism by some staff still has baffled because that is something you choose to partake in. I was in too much pain to go too far, but I would choose another ER next time if I ever needed immediate medical intervention again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
