The other day I went to the ER after not getting better from an ongoing illness I have had. My lymph nodes have been incredibly swollen, I had an ongoing fever for 3 days and I have been incredibly fatigued. I ended up fainting at home that day, I called the doctor I had recently seen and she told me to go to the ER for blood work and fluids. I arrived at the ER and waited about 2 hours to get a room. After getting a room Physician Geers came into the room and did a swab of the back of my throat (even though my throat had not been hurting) then left the room. He came back an hour and a half later saying that I do not have step and I would be able to go home. This confused me to no end because the main reason for going to the ER was for fluids and bloodwork. I expressed how I really felt like I needed to have bloodwork done because it felt like I have mono or something. He then stated “well I really don’t think it’s necessary since I think all you have is a viral infection, but if you want to have a little bit more of a pricey visit we can do blood work to make you feel better.” I then said I wanted the blood work done and an hour later he came back with the results that I tested positive for mono. I was highly frustrated with this physician and the team he was working with that day.
