Instead of seeing him I treated me as counseling session about chorionic a i user in medication which I only take if Ned for pain not daily He also didn’t believe I have reaction to cortisone shots. Not a great experience. He seemed uninterested in me as a patient. Spent about 5 minutes in my room, and asked just a few questions about what I am experiencing. He did not check all ranges of motion for my shoulder pain nor did he seem interested in the pain I am having. I had to keep offering information, which was of little interest to him. I had an x-ray, which I assume was fine, but he never even mentioned that it was in his short time in my room. My issue is rotator cuff related, so of course an x-ray will show nothing. I will never go back to see him again at OAW. Horrible experience.

After dislocating my knee over 25-years ago, Dr. Merkow has taken care of me though an ACL reconstruction, a few scopes, shots and then finally last week, a brand new knee! His treatment recommendations and his expertise have helped me continue to compete in running, biking, skiing and swimming races for all of these years and I am very grateful for that. The time he takes with me to explore my treatment options and to put my mind at ease before any procedure is beyond expectations. I have recommended Dr. Merkow to several people over the years and their great experiences have mirrored my own. Thank you for keeping me racing, Dr. Merkow!

I sought out Dr Merkow for a manipulation under anesthesia after hitting a plateau in my very intesive physical therapy. After meeting and talking to him I felt very comfortable with Dr. Merkow's extensive history performing a MUA. We decided together to forgo the nerve block as it was unnecessary (I really appreciated his honesty) and he did the MUA and I was in and out of OAW. I experienced zero pain afterwards and never filled my script. I went back to therapy and worked extremely hard and was able to graduate six weeks later! My range of motion is back to 95% (used to be at 5%). I am grateful for his willingness to do a MUA when his associate wanted to perform unnecessary surgery.

Arrogant and disagreeable. Broke a bone during surgery, did not see dangerous antibiotic reaction after surgery and when dealing with an undiagnosed break and dangerous antibiotic reaction, blamed addiction(pain meds monitored by another, so no. Pain yes, competent Dr, no) Lucky patient didn't die from antibiotic reaction and was finally recognized and acknowledged by infectious disease Doctor

The new knee is ten years old this spring and has been wonderful. Dr Merkow did a wonderful job!

My experiences as a patient have been excellent. My initial visit a couple years ago was for a torn hamstring. He discouraged me from surgery due to several reasonable factors, such as my age and activities, and instead recommended physical therapy to regain most of the capabilities. The advice was conservative and the outcome accurate and highly satisfactory. When I returned for an unrelated hip replacement this year the results were excellent now a month later. His consultation, recommendations and coaching are very careful, considerate and spot on. Since my other hip was replaced seven years ago when in another state, this was an even better experience.
