I found Doctor Hughes impressively up front in all matters, from fees to recovery measures for my hernia operation. His thoroughness to detail was exceptional. His honest, no nonsense advice in terms of the recovery and rest period really helped me. His experience and dedication shone through.

I had a bilateral inguinal hernia which has been bothering me on and off for 18 months but was not extremely serious or very painful. Dr Hughes was very honest and upfront that surgery was not a “necessity” now, it all depended on my discomfort levels. So we waited for 6 months and reassessed. I decided to go ahead with the surgery which was clearly explained and went very smoothly. The post-op recovery advice Dr Hughes gave me was spot on and I’m healing up well. I found Dr Hughes very knowledgeable, confident and clearly able to explain the issue and the process. He backs up everything with photos of previous surgeries so you know what to expect. He is also very up front with fees / insurance/ hospital fees etc so you know where you stand. Cat on the front desk is also very helpful and knowledgeable. I felt I was in good hands with them both. Overall a very good experience and I would recommend Dr Hughes for any surgery of this type.

After previously having a bad experience with shoulder surgery. I went to see Andrew for a bad inguenal Hernia. I was nervous and was ready to ask a thousand questions. There was no need he described everthing in terms I could understand. The op was successful with a few surprises for Andrew. I had 5 hernias. Post op came to see me on a Saturday to check my progress. When I went for check up he explained everything he did with photographs Describing all challenges he faced at time of surgery. The surgery was pain free with no complications. Was back at work in construction overseas six weeks later.It is now 5 years post surgery. I'm good as gold. highly recomend Andrew and would consult him in the future.

Dr Hughes removed my very pesky gallbladder, in what turned into along, complex surgery. My pre-op care and post-op follow-up were excellent, and Dr Hughes was helpful and thoroughly professional throughout.

I was referred to Dr Hughes by my GP and very happy as he had previously done surgery the previous year on my wife as he removed her gall bladder in an emergency procedure. . He was informative explaining the need to ensure medication is taken seriously , and I knew what was going to occur on the day and what should be experienced after the surgery. My 2 week check after the surgery was the same, I got all the results including photos of the procedure , and checked to make sure everything was healing well. Extremely professional and courteous with receptionist being also very efficient. My hospital stay at St Vincents was also first class as well as the Anaesthetist that he used.

Very knowledgeable surgeon who took the time to explain everything. The whole process both pre and post operation was exceptional. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.

Dr Hughes provided a clear picture my situation and options. He explained the procedure and what to expect very clearly so I felt well informed. Everything went very smoothly. Would have no hesitation in recommending him and would go back to him in future if needed.
