Met Dr Spears for the first time when I took my child to TRMC for what appeared to be an allergic reaction. Dr Spears took one look at her and said, that’s a bacterial rash, most likely mycoplasma. He ordered labs and sure enough, it was mycoplasma.
Don't waste your time!
He was very polite and explained everything he did. He found my problem and had me feeling better in a few days.
Dr. Spears was our family doctor for the past few years. My husband and I have great respect for him. Unlike most doctors today who have one foot out the door before you can tell them what is bothering you he took the time to listen and find out what problems and symptoms you had. He was very charming and friendly. We trusted him with out lives. We are very upset that he has left Mercy and moved to another state. He will be hard to replace. It is not easy to find a doctor of his caliber. We wish him all the success and happiness in his new practice and I am sure anyone who has him for a doctor will agree with us. Take care and GOD BLESS YOU Dr. Spears! The Ross's
We took our two kids to Dr. Spears for the first time. The younger one had a bad cough/fever for a few days, and the older just had a bad cough. Dr. Spears was pleasant, and humourous towards the kids. When it came to diagnose, he prescribed antibiotics to my younger one. I quickly questioned him why antibiotics when he did not test for anything that would require antibiotics. I appreciate the way he explained his reasons to me in a calming manner. I later felt bad because I might have offended him with the way I questioned him. My husband did say I sounded not nice. Sorry if I offended Dr. Spears. I will take all my kids to see him from now on.
Dr Spears has been treating my family (me, wife and 2 kids) for many years. While Mercy has gone through some changes, his office provides great care. He takes the time to hear your concerns and thoughtfully processes them to provide solutions.
Dr. Spears is great! My whole family has gone to him for some time now. When our second son was born in March, he came to the hospital everyday for 5 days to check on him, due to some complications. He is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. It is always easy to get an appointment with him. Would highly recommend Dr. Spears to anyone searching for a great doctor!
I am very happy with Dr. Spears. My previous doctor would never see me , he would have me see a PA or NP. The few times I saw him, he was judgmental of me as well. I always felt he was judging my life by my ailments. That is NOT the case with Dr. Spears. He was very kind and got to know me. I shared personal information with him and he was not judgmental at all. He spends quality time with me and goes over all my questions or issues in one session. He takes his time with you and doesn't act like you are keeping him from his next appointment. I am lucky to find such an exceptional doctor. Because they are hard to find nowadays. Not only is Dr. Spears wonderful, but his staff have been exceptional as well.
Don't bother with Dr Spears. He will cancel appointment after appointment and push pills rather than bothering to properly duagnose. He takes your money with not a second thought. He will not be there for you if you need him. He will pass you off to a nurse instead. Dr. Spears exemplifies everything wrong with the current health care system.
He saw my son twice on the same day, misdiagnosed him twice on the same day had to go to another hospital an hour away from a 3rd ER visit in one day! He was completely wrong on everything he told us. Scared my son terribly, needlessly...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
