Paul Bown's Online Review Report Card

I watched him save a family members life twice in 2016. First over 10 hours of surgery time to remove his colon that was caught around old scar tissue from a prior kidney removal surgery. All other drs far and wide said he wouldn't survive surgery. Dr Bown saved him. There were complications after, but those were to be expected and he made it through. His second surgery was to remove his rectum and anus and he did a wonderful job then as well. Again complications but he made it through all because of Dr Bown. He has since passed from a massive heart attack due to all of his health issues, but Dr Bown gave him 4 wonderful years that he wouldn't have had without him. Thank you!!!

I can't speak highly enough for this doctor and his staff. I find them all skilled, kind and quick to respond to questions and concerns with out being judged or discounted for asking. I can't say enough positive about them all. Dr. Brown, has a demeanor that reminds me of my youth, and the "country" doctor I we go see, unless he came to us, (yes, he made house calls) and with the same calm, knowledgeable, approach to our health and healing. If you are looking for a new PC doctor, I urge you to give him a try without hesitation, I don't believe you will be disappointed.Diane....PVE

Dr Bown has been so good to me! Absolutely 0 complaints. He had great bedside manner and treated me with kindness. I would highly recommend. His nurse is also amazing!

Just had gallbladder removed and abdominal hernia repair today. This is my second surgery with Dr Bown and the Tri State area is lucky to have him working here!

Performed my surgery for gallbladder. Zero bedside manner. More importantly, after surgery I was released to go home, couldn’t stop vomiting and had to return to e.r. When e.r nurses contacted him he showed no concern whatsoever. He told nurse “she’s in the care of the e.r, it’s fine”.

Dr. Bown and Dr. Wolfered saved my life. I had a perforated bowl and was septic due to another doctor negligence. Dr. Bown is a very caring but busy man, he answers your questions and explains things to you. I still see him regularly. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Bown did a double Hernia surgery on me. He is a excellent doctor and surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Everyone at Cabell Huntington hospital took so good of care of me including him. Thank you so much Dr. Bown. I feel so much better!!! Richard Driscoll

Staff is completely inept. Do not understand how insurance works.Dr himself is just okay. As another review has said, there is not much upstairs.

I had a para esophageal hiatal hernia. My entire stomach was in my diaphragm and twisted. He did the lap surgery with 5 incisions. I was very sick post op. However, I made a quick recovery thanks to Dr. Bown, and Prayers from church family and friends! I went back to work in 2 weeks. I have recommended him to family and friends. I Would highly recommended hi again!

Poor bedside manner. Doesn't seem to care much about patients. After surgery had to visit e.r for dehydration from vomiting. Never heard a word from him. Nurses said he told them to let the e.r dr's care for me. I'll not go to him again nor recommend him to anyone.
