Physician was great; however there was absolutely zero follow-up. Dr. K. ordered a MRI for my hamstring after evaluating me. It took three weeks for me to get in touch with his nurse, Teri because the imaging center never received the orders. With EMR, sending orders is as simple as pressing a few buttons. After two weeks, I left multiple messages to try and get the orders sent over so that I could schedule it. Meanwhile, I was in extreme agony and my injury kept getting worse. Finally, after a month, I was able to get it scheduled. It showed I had a pretty bad tear in my left hamstring and a partial tear in my right. I’m currently battling stage IV cancer and due to some complications, my oncologist believed the injury needed to be dealt with because it was inhibiting my treatment. I decided to let this slide since I really liked the provider; however, after going for my follow-up to get my results, the same thing happened again. Today is day 30 and I’m suppose to go for my third follow-up. But, I was SUPPOSE to get orders for physical therapy. I’m too sick to keep tracking down Teri, his nurse. To date, nobody followed-up with me and the PT orders were never sent. Yes, I could have done my due diligence and called the office, but I decided to schedule an Ortho appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, where most of my providers are for the cancer. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this practice. On a personal note, I do employment law for large health care organizations. I have vast experience with Joint Commission audits and working with some of the largest health care systems in the country. I would say that despite the lack of follow-up and disorganization, the practice is still a place to receive sound advice and clinical judgment. Overall though, I am too sick to be chasing down orders and waiting on hold all the time. I have too many appointments as it is and the least amount of time I have to exert, the better. Lastly, when I called 3x about the MRI orders, I had to threaten getting patient advocacy involved, before the situation was rectified. It’s really too bad because I really liked Dr. Knutson. The only thing I think that I would give as constructive criticism is that I was never asked about my pain level or management. Hamstring tears are fierce… and considering I had all my lymph nodes removed from that groin area because of the cancer, my pain wasn’t tolerable at times. I have severe swelling at times in that leg due to having no lymph drainage which compounds the pain I think. That first night, I barely slept and there were a few times, I almost went to the ER because I couldn’t stand it. I understand there’s an opiate crisis in our country and physicians are reluctant to prescribe medications; however, to not even ask about it is unacceptable. Considering I have cancer and am on treatment, I have to be extremely careful with anti-inflammatory drugs because of raise liver enzymes. It’s disappointing that this wasn’t addressed or discussed at either appointment.

I was having severe pain in both my elbows and Dr. Knutson had very good reviews. I went to see him and he gave me a cortisone shot to get me through until I could have nerve testing. The testing came back as having severe nerve damage in both from carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome. He recommended surgery in both hands two weeks apart. I was extremely hesitant to have surgery on my hands. The pain though was awful! I decided to have my left, non dominant hand only because of how comfortable and at ease Dr. Knutson made me feel. The surgical team was awesome! The surgery and recovery went just as the Dr. had explained and three weeks later I'm having my right hand done. To Nurse Teri, thank you as well for being so kind and gentle as you took the stitches out! If you are looking for a top notch Orthopedic Doctor, I would highly recommend Dr. Knutson and his team at Orthopedic Excellence in Martinsburg WV.

I did not have to wait long for an appointment. Everyone was friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Dr. Knutson repaired two meniscus tears and now is working on a shoulder injury.

Awesome Dr, very nice and helpful! Not pushy at all! Wife fell and broke her Tibia and Fibula and he has worked with us tremendously to help her NOT need surgery… when most Dr’s seem to push surgery nowadays..

He had my cast so tight the whole time i had to keep ice on it..he said it is fine..it was not..now i have a ruined hand..and numb..went to another doctor and he stated i had to have bone replacement...its so bad..He had told me i almost kicked him when he reset it..i said so sorry did not even know it..he wrapped so tight..the swelling was constand out the thumb.and he had cast down over fingers so i could not exercise them..while in cast..so it took a yr just to bend them...so how bout that arm and hand ruined..I would not go to that place anymore..

Dr. Knutson took the time to talk to me about all that he knew about my problem. He is always personable and never judgmental. When ever I need orthopedic care or advice, he is the only one I consider. I trust him explicitly .

Doctor Knutson performed shoulder surgery on me. I am still recovering but doing well. I have regained most of my range of motion and strength. He has seen me with other problems but this was my first surgery by him. I feel he has done an outstanding job and I would highly recommend him for any ailment that has been refereed to an orthopedic doctor to be looked at. I appreciate his calm and caring personality and his humor. He truly has the best "bedside manner" as they say of any doctor I have ever seen and I am 50 years young lol and have had other surgeries and many doctor visits over the years. I live over 1.5 hours away from his practice and it has been worth the extra miles to be taken care of by an real professional. Thank you again Doc Knutson and also the great staff at The Center For Orthopedic Excellence.

Excellent. I was seeing another doctor who refused to submit the gel injections for my knee issues to my insurance for fear they wouldn't pay. Nor, would he do surgery to repair my torn meniscus. Dr. Knutson mentioned scoping my knee right away, scheduled it, and later on, had the gel injections ready at a recent visit.
