List of Richard Shorter Md's Reviews
I have been a patient of Dr. Richard Shorter for over 25 years. Dr. Shorter has always been straight forward with his diagnosis and genuinely cares about his patients health. He will tell you up front but does it in a caring way. I followed Dr. Shorter from Peterstown, WV to Princeton because of his knowledge and care. I recommend Dr. Shorter to anyone looking for a family doctor!
My Aunt was a long term patient of Dr. Shorter and she went to him for treatment of Shingles. She initially saw his nurse who prescribed the right medicine, but she went back and saw Dr. Shorter to have the prescription refilled. He refused to refill it and told her there was nothing that could help. That is totally false. Due to his negligence, my Aunt has been suffering from Shingles since May 2020. Because Dr. Shorter did not properly treat her Shingles, it has now progressed to Postherpetic Neuralgia. A simple query of WebMD would have shown there are several antiviral medications that can lower the chance of having complications. Since Dr. Shorter refused to refill the antiviral medicine, my Aunt continues to suffer over 9 months later.
He has been my aunt's doctor for years, now that she is elderly I go to appointments with her. He is very knowledgeable, kind and considerate too
Informative and professional
Excellent doctor and staff - compassionate and professional!
Great care and wonderful staff. Highly reccomend!
This is by far the WORST office i have ever delt with. The staff is rude and all they want to donis continually give antibiotics instead of trying to fond the problem. When I questioned the "treatment" of my son and aked why they would not send him to an ENT due to him continually having tonsil stone they dismissed my entire family from the practice. All they are worried about is getting as many people in and out as they can. They are not worried about actually treating their patients.
I have been Dr Shorter patient for many years and have always been treated well. Staff have always been helpful to me.
I recently needed to switch pharmacies and PCP from Dr Shorter because of healthcare insurance changes. It entailed asking the office to call in a prescription of my medication to a new pharmacy/ask Dr shorter for a prescription just to get me through until I could get 1st appointment with new PCP... ( it gets more complicated because I’m basically healthy and hadn’t seen Dr Shorter for (2) yrs)..... The office staff was difficult to work with, sent the prescription to the wrong (old) pharmacy. ( I was told that “ Dr Shorter will do this one time”...) That was fine, because I had an appointment with my new PCP coming up. When I called to say that the prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy, I was told that they were aware of the problem and were working on it/ would be taken care of.....fast forward 3 days...I went to my new pharmacy to pick up prescription ( I assumed it was there) and was told that they had “ no prescription ever sent from Dr Shorter office.” I called Dr Shorter office ( now without pills for 3days) — it was like starting all over!!!! NO ONE knew what I was talking about! “ We’ll have to ask Dr Shorter”. “ We don’t think he’ll do this for you”. “ You need to make an appointment”. “ Who did you talk to in our office?!” NO HELP- NO CALL BACK....it was Friday afternoon, so I knew I was screwed .. I give up! Seeing new PCP on Monday (will be 6 days without medicine)... No follow through/call from office *I possibly should be rating office staff, not Dr Shorter...was originally told that Dr Shorter would write prescription this ONE time ( which was fine). It was his office staff that didn’t get the job done.
I could not find a more compassionate doctor. He treated my mom and as a registered nurse I was very particular about her care. He exceeded my expectations in every area.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
