List of David Ghaphery's Reviews
Looked at me as if I was delusional...I feel like he was unprofessional. I have had pain on my head for years and i have a hard spot in couple of places behind the top of my right head...anyone who known me felt the lumps and would say...I wouldn’t make this stuff up...hopefully I’ll get a better second opinion from someone else..had to miss work early to end up with dirty looks at me and thinking I was making stuff up...when it’s been noted in my file for three years about possible ‘cysts’ on my head that bring me pain now my head is throbbing and I have to wait for another opinion by someone else...wheeling hospital doesn’t care! It’s sad when your family doctor knows where your issue problem is and when he recommends someone who he thinks would do a great job doesn’t even bother. Well no worries won’t see me anymore I don’t recommend “dr.” ghapery I wouldn’t want surgery if I didn’t had consistent pain but suggested by my doctor of three years if it didn’t got better...good bye. Btw, is it snowing yet? How does small talk speculate here..😤🤔 so thanks for wasting my time and hopefully it is just cysts and nothing more because you didn’t want to bother...like seriously
I have been a patient of Dr. Ghaphery’s for almost ten years. He LISTENS to the patient and is compassionate. His staff at the Wheeling Hospital office are the best group of ladies you could have for support. ❤️❤️❤️
Dr. Ghaphery was very cheerful while "selling" us on a surgery. He is good at patting himself on the back. If things go badly, don't plan on any follow-up from him. Once the surgery is complete, he's finished with you. There is absolutely no empathy or consideration for patient care. I suggest seeking a surgeon in a larger city. Nobody there would have him on their staff. Wheeling Hospital must be desperate. Also, the hospital was filthy & much of the staff was lazy and/or inept.
My experience...the facilities are from the early 1980's at best. Dirty floors, the tile in the entryway is broken, and dust on the exam table. The receptionist was short and not overly friendly, not mean but not nice. People are there for surgery, I'd think some empathy or compassion wouldn't hurt. The exam room old and outdated, not modern in any way. As for the actual visit with Dr. Ghaphery...I am extremely disappointed. I'm there for a surgical consultation and I'm scared. He did nothing to assauge my fear. He looked me over for 30 seconds. Tells me I need surgery with minimal detail and total lack of my concerns. He did not describe the process from admission to the hospital to the types of anesthesia that may be used. I ask a couple of questions about whether or not I need the surgery and he says it won't "stress him out" if I don't have the surgery. Is it about him or the patient? He hands me a surgical release form and expected a decision right then and there. I wanted more time to think about it and he said again that it won't "stress him out" if I get the surgery or not. I am equally disappointed that my family doctor recomended him to me. Maybe he was having a hard day or something else was affecting his demeanor. I hope his other patients have a better experience.
Dr. Ghaphery was covering for my doctor after I had surgery. He did not sterilize his hands or put on gloves when he pulled my dressing away. I was stunned at his blatant disregard for minimal safety. When I asked him why he didn't, his response was that he "didn't have to". I said that I would prefer that he wear gloves. He then stormed out of my room and never returned. Maybe he was grumpy from missing his feeding. I think that I have the right to be concerned about a staph infection, especially from the travel mug that he never puts down.
The very first surgery I had from him he seemed like a caring doctor. But my surgeries after that not so nice. Last surgery he didn't listen to what I told him and on my follow up visit I was still asking him questions and he was walking out of the room. Very disappointed.
I found Dr. David Ghaphery to be very caring and skilled. He took time to answer all of my questions and explained the procedure to me in detail. I will definately recommend him to my family and friends.
I found Dr. David Ghaphery very easy to work with. He was pleasant and spent time answering any questions I had. He explained the procedure as he went along. He even asked if I had any questions.
He's the best surgeon in the area. I needed gall bladder removed . He does 5-10 a week. He answered all my questions and did excellent job. Live in weirton but convenience wasn't priority. My first surgery and had anxiety but I put my faith in the best. His receptionist reassured me as well. She had same procedure and chose him as well.
I would recommend Dr. Ghaphery just because I was confident with the care. He was a little curt, for lack of a better word, when speaking to me but his knowledge was comforting. My surgery went very well, including recovery

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
