At Baycare Cardiac Cath Lab, I experienced medical negligence committed by a doctor during and after a stent procedure. I advised that I would refuse to treat with that cardiologist any further. Dr. Gary Idelchik took over my care and I could not have been more pleased and fortunate. He had to go back in and fix the other doctor’s misplaced stent, which was actually blocking an arterial juncture in my heart. At the same time Dr. Idelchik put in two additional stents, one to repair a significant congenital defect that no one had ever diagnosed before in 10 years. In post-op he explained in detail what he had done and why in a straightforward manner, without criticizing anyone’s prior work. This doctor is extremely thorough and professional and I feel what he did for me was nothing short of life-saving. Any organization that would fire this man while retaining other, less competent doctors must have some serious dysfunction going on at the upper management level, and is following

Easily the best clinician in upstate NY. Diagnosed my diabetes, sleep apnea, valve and heart disease after being told I was okay by a prior cardiologist leading to my valve replacement and bypass surgery, and the cause of my stroke which was atrial fibrillation. An actual ‘House’ who saved mine and many others lives in this region. Truly a blessing he came here.

I was always told by my cardiologists that my case was tough and that I didn't respond well to treatment, while frustrating in the beginning, I got used to the idea of living with pain and having a hard time breathing being my "normal". In 15 years I've had over 7 Cardiologists, not by choice, but because my job required I moved constantly. I always thought I had the best doctors and that my case was tough and I was lucky to be alive, even though I couldn't even walk a block without having to stop to catch my breath. Luckily my last move was to Malta, NY where I got to meet Dr. Idelchik. He explained my condition thoroughly and clearly. He also was the first cardiologist to mention performing a cardiac cath and possibly fixing my arteries with a stent, which he did skillfully. For the first time in over 20 years I felt like a huge load was taken off my chest. I can walk several blocks and I don't even look back. Words can not explain how life changing this has been. I'll be forever grateful to Dr. Idelchik. I really didn't know what a good doctor was until I met him.

After years of dealing with intermittent chest discomfort and decline in functional status, I was lost and wanted another opinion and was referred to Dr. Idelchik by friends. As soon as Dr. Idelchik heard my complaints, he told me we needed to proceed with urgent cardiac cath. He diagnosed me with severe coronary disease despite normal stress studies before. I underwent bypass and feel like a human being again. I owe my life to Dr. Idelchik and recommend him to everybody.

He not only took the time to speak with me, which was quite a while, he also explained things to me in a way that I could understand. He truly cares about his patients and is genuine--rare things to find in the medical area and even in his practice group. I will continue to go out of my way to see him for my heart health.

Dr. Idelchik is an amazing doctor, every appointment I have had with him he has taken his time to explain every detail so I fully understand and I am aware of whats going on! I've been to three different cardiologist and he is by far the best!!

I was evaluated by the best in Boston who misdiagnosed me over and over. Frustrated, I decided to try the local cardiology group and was blessed to have Dr. Idelchik see me. He correctly diagnosed me immediately and after further, directed testing, I underwent surgery and have never felt better.
