Dr Shim is very understanding and professional. I would recommend him to friends and family.
Let's just say it's nice an office visit can turn into a great experience ! Dr. Garcia is amazing, he genuinely cares and does whatever it takes to solve your issues. My nurse that did my blood draw - Spectacular!!! No one has ever been able to get blood from my arms ( my veins are complicated ) and Rhe the receptionist, so very nice ! I definitely want to make this office my primary one ! Great experience and staff here - good job !
All of the staff at MemorialCare are incredible. We had a food poisoning emergency that was pretty severe and were not able to make an appointment in advance. The staff found an opening in the schedule and started him on a fluid IV drip and other medication to ease the pain. We are so grateful for the understanding and professional staff here. I highly recommend coming here for your next appointment.
Everyone at memorial care is so awesome. I have seen Dr. Doshi as well as Dr. Nguyen and both were amazing. I also talked to the advice nurse and she was so compassionate and worked hard to get me in to see a dr right away. I'm so happy I chose memorial care and Dr. Doshi as my PCP. Highly recommend!
I have a long and complicated medical history for someone my age, so naturally I dread seeing new doctors because typically they don't want to take the time to listen and consider the big picture. In my situation, I need someone to really listen. Dr. Doshi did that. I felt comfortable talking with him and he never interrupted me or shut me down. He didn't do that dumb "oh you're too young to have these problems so they must not be real" thing I've gotten SO MANY TIMES. I really appreciated being heard, it's a rare thing to find in doctors. I also had some blood drawn, something that makes me wanna puke and cry because I hate needles. I wish I remembered the woman's name who took my blood but she did a fantastic job and was so friendly and quick. I had absolutely no bruising and barely any bleeding after the appointment. In the past I've bled a lot and bruised badly. She gave me advice to avoid those things happening and I really appreciated that! The receptionists were also very friendly, quick and efficient. Scheduling over the phone felt very personalized and easy. I've never had such a positive experience with a doctors office, truly.
I come here 4-6 times a year to see my specialist, Dr. Gupta. The facility is clean and well organized. Check-in is always polite, and usually only 3-6 minutes from check-in to being taken back for vitals, etc. since I have an appointment. The onsite lab was much quicker and easier than other options for bloodwork. Clean place, friendly staff, and Dr. Gupta is terrific.
To describe my experience, I would say that the service provided here is very pleasant, almost familial. Nothing felt rushed during my appointment, but everything was completed efficiently from my rooming to the blood draw to my check out. I work in the healthcare industry and have managed a couple of clinics and health groups and because of that, I like to take note of how different offices operate in regards to customer service. I would like to recognize the lady who operates the front office (who's name I unfortunately was not able to get), Aurora (Medical Assistant) and Emilyn (Medical assistant) (I apologize if I misspelled the name). All were very friendly from the minute I entered the door to the moment I left. For the medical assistants, all were very clear on every step through my procedure and when administering vaccines/shots they kept conversation with me, making the experience as painless as an injection can be. Their efficiency is commendable for being such skilled workers. Their phlebotomist was exceptional! I have relatively deep veins and because of that, I'm used to two or more tries with my veins and have gotten use to the procedure all around. The phlebotomist who drew me (who's name I wish I got) was very friendly and efficient, hitting my vein on the first try while also making sure I was feeling okay. I ended up laughing through the process with her due to her friendly personality and joked about our experiences with other venipunctures/blood draws. Finally, I would like to recognize Dr. Chun. He is a very calm, friendly doctor who makes you feel comfortable while conversing with him. He treated every symptom I had with care, professionalism and he kept asking "is there anything else that I can help you with" almost as if this would be the last time I would see him. Definitely won't be the last time I will be seeing him! Definitely would recommend the people that I have mentioned and I hope that the other reviews do not deter you. If there is a problem in regards to billing, speak with the office and your insurance in a calm and diplomatic manner so that way you can all work through a compromise. I know it can be upsetting when billing comes around, but generally the office wants to help provide you the best quality of care at a reasonable price on your end. Give them a try at least because I wouldn't have found this friendly environment if I didn't give them a shot.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Dr. Adam Wass is the best Personal Physician that i have ever had. He is insightful, intelligent and genuinely a great guy. I truly appreciate the care at MemorialCare Medical Center on Baker in Costa Mesa. Thank you!
I have been a satisfied patient of MemorialCare Medical Group for the last 8 years. When my wife and I were married two years ago and she got on my insurance she also started to go to MCMG and loves it. I discovered what is now MCMG many years ago when I was a patient at Bristol Park Medical Group which later merged with MCMG. In 1993 I was injured on the job and went to Bristol Park in Irvine. They treated me so well (if you've ever had to go to a worker's comp clinic that is often not the case) that I never forgot them. I left Bristol Park to Kaiser Permanente due to a previous marriage/new job and immediately remembered Bristol Park in 2010 when I had non-Kaiser insurance made available to me through a new job. When Bristol Park merged with MemorialCare a few years after I came back from Kaiser, I was worried something might change, but they didn't skip a beat...on the contrary it got better due to more doctors/facilities in the medical group. Sorry for the novel but I love this place. My primary care physician is Dr. Doshi and he is the best. He was assigned to me when my previous doctor left MCMG and I didn't know what to expect. Dr. Doshi is kind, patient, genuine, and never ever rushes me. I have also seen Dr. Chun there a couple of times and he is good, too. Staff is always courteous. They have x-rays and blood draw on site and MCMG is part of the MemorialCare Health system which includes Saddleback Memorial, Orange Coast Memorial, and Long Beach Memorial Medical Centers. Always a great experience with their imaging centers and urgent care centers as well.
On June 1st, I made an online appointment with Dr. Wass for that very morning. Easy peasy. When I arrived at the facility, the gal at the front desk greeted me with a warm smile and hello, and collected my copay. Then the technician who weighed me and took my temperature walked me to my room. During our walk, she asked me if I was still feeling dizzy. She apparently remembered me from awhile back when I suffered from a fall and had a mild concussion. Either that, or maybe I walked too weird that day and so she thought I was dizzy...I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter, since I do have multiple sclerosis. LOL. Prior to my appointment, I made sure to print out a few pages from an online forum consisting of persons who suffer from a rare condition like me--unrelenting hypnic jerks at sleep onset that rob you of sleep. One forum member summarized potential treatments that may be effective, while other members mentioned the blood pressure (bp) meds Clonidine and Prazosin as novel treatments that helped with hypnic jerks. Since my jerks played a factor in my rising nighttime bp and I have a longstanding history of high bp, I was convinced that Clonidine would be the best treatment for me to try out first, and was prepared to ask Dr. Wass to prescribe it to me. I was literally sobbing while talking to Dr. Wass about my issues. l told him how my family has been so greatly affected by my sleep issues and declining health. I informed Dr. Wass that my husband did online research and discovered a sleep doctor at UCLA whose clinical interests were sleep parasomnias. My husband's thought was that a doctor with a research background or clinical interest in the area, may be of better help than the 3 local sleep docs that we've already seen. The sleep clinic at UCLA requires a referral from a doc, regardless of the type of health insurance you have. Dr. Wass was very empathetic and addressed all of my questions and concerns. He acknowledged he was not a sleep expert but can do some reading on my condition to see if there's anything he can find. He looked at my copy of potential treatments and went through each one with me. He had no problems with exploring the treatments with me and suggested we first try Depakote ER and go from there. He said we could try Clonidine if I would still like, although with my profile, he wouldn't suggest it for a number of reasons and said it would be at the bottom of the list of the meds to try on me. He also said he could give me a referral to UCLA Sleep Center while we try the Depakote ER since it may take awhile before I can be seen at UCLA. In short, Dr. Wass made me feel that there may still be hope at treating my condition...I've lost hope after battling these sleep issues for so long while feeling that I was getting nowhere with the sleep docs. Dr. Wass told me to hang in there and hugged me as we finished up the appointment. Here I was, thinking that if I was experiencing a specific health issue, I should go see a doctor who specializes in that field. I am now realizing that although this may be a good rule of thumb to follow, it doesn't guarantee that I will get a doctor who is (1) open-minded, (2) honest, (3) a good listener, and (4) caring enough to want to help ease my suffering/pain. Dr. Wass is a rare breed since he exhibits all those qualities you'd want in a doctor. The fact that Dr. Wass stated that he is willing to try different treatments on me until we find one that is effective, and/or until I get in to see the UCLA sleep doc, gave me such immediate, emotional relief...The fact that he does not get offended if I seek outside consultations or second opinions and is willing to refer me out to the UCLA doc, says everything. You don't want to be with a doc who easily gets defensive or offended if the patient wants to seek second or even third opinions...Goes to show that you just need a caring doctor who is willing to listen and help at the end of the day...Can't say the same of the sleep specialists I've gone to...They were so insistent that their way was the right way and that I, the patient, must be doing something wrong. Pffftttt. Bothered. BTW, it's been 7 days I've been on Depakote ER. Just last night, I had a blissful 4 hours of consecutive sleep. No jerks throughout the night. This is in sharp contrast to the 0-1 hour of sleep I was getting before. And to think that I wasted precious time and was getting nowhere with three sleep docs for a year and a half. Pfffttt. More bothered. Kudos to Dr. Wass for his willingness to look at what I found online regarding hypnic jerks and potential treatments for them. He felt most of the meds on the list were safe enough to trial on me if this might mean an end to my suffering. I felt that NONE of the sleep docs I went to exhibited this type of mentality or open-mindedness. Instead, Gabapentin was their drug of choice although I kept on telling them that I felt it augmented my hypnic jerks. Pffftt. Most bothered.
