List of Diana Albay's Reviews
Dr. Diana Albay is an exceptional doctor! She is extremely competent, kind, professional and knowledgeable. She treats patient like a family member and she gives such a thorough exam. She takes time to listen and follows up quickly, even during the weekend she gave me a detailed update. She goes above and beyond! I am very impressed with her expertise! Dr. Albay makes Kaiser SHINE!
I will never see Diana Albay again as a patient. However, writing this review only to help others. Seemed very nice and caring at first but sadly true colors came out. TRUST in your health care provider is absolutely essential. When you lose that trust, you know it’s time to move on.
Great Doctor. Diana has been my Doctor since I switched to Kaiser and I've been much happier with her she is very knowledgeable about her patients health care and she takes care of all the needs of patients and certainly will make sure that your ok.
Dr. Albay was my husband's doctor. He appreciated her bedside manner and expertise however she was entirely unprofessional. She left her practice suddenly in April 2019. This was the second time she had some type of "family emergency" which required her closing her practice. My husband did not receive any notification that she would be closing her office. He showed up for a scheduled appointment and read a note on the door that her office was now closed. This was totally unacceptable. As a long time diabetic, he relied on the care she provided. She broke the trust he had in her and showed flagrant disregard for her patients. It would be a serious mistake for anyone to become her patient.
Dr Albay is so knowledgeable has amazing rapport with patients and is up to date on the latest technology - she helped me with Dexcom when it first came out to get information on the service - try it out and eventually get it covered by my health plan - I have seen her for many years and she is far and away the best endocrinologist I have ever seen - I am a Type I diabetic and she has helped me in managing my diabetes. Thank you Dr Albay and please let us know when you return to practice as you are the best !!!
Dr. Albay closed her office doors within a week and now all my medical records are not available. Additionally, one of her staff called me the day the letter was being mailed to ask to reschedule my appointment to a date after the closure, knowing that they were closing the office. No transparency whatsoever and now I have to call multiple offices to obtain test results that she requested because she is no longer releasing patient information.
I am terribly sorry for whatever tragedy has befallen your family. You are a wonderful doctor and I always looked forward to my visits with you and visiting with your office girls too (Marissa). I was shocked to receive a letter in the mail on March 25th stating that your office would be closed permanently to patients beginning on March 27th and that patients medical records would be available only until April 2nd and enclosed was a medical records release authorizing other physicians to send THEIR records to Dr. Albay (clearly the wrong release) and no fax number was on the release for the patients to give their new doctor (like we even had time to find a new endocrinologist, do you know how hard it is to find an endocrinologist in Orange County? Much less one that is taking new patients with an opening in 5 days? And one that we bond with like we had with Dr. Albay? Many of us had already seen multiple endocrinologists that had failed us prior to finding Dr. Albay so our choices are very limited. I chose to have my records sent to my PCP). I immediately both faxed my release and mailed my release to Dr. Albay on March 28th but I have a feeling I will never gets my records. I also called multiple times asking for a refill of my insulin, being a type 1 diabetic. As all of Dr. Albay's patients know, her staff do not answer the phones when they ring. The staff let all the calls go to voicemail and they return calls at a later date. Now I realize you all must have been inundated with calls from panicked patients but being a type 1 diabetic having NO refills of insulin, I too was one of those panicked patients. I left multiple messages just asking for a refill of my insulin as I had also called my PCP asking him to refill it but he said he was uncomfortable doing so. I have yet to hear back from anyone and it is now April 4th so I'm guessing the office is now closed and no one is taking calls anymore. I am now left with NO INSULIN beyond what I have on hand. There are many chronic illnesses that need medications but very few that need medications to live on, type 1 diabetes being one of those few. If I do not have insulin, I WILL DIE! So what am I to do? I have no endocrinologist, no medical records, and NO INSULIN! I am deeply sorry for your tragedy Dr. Albay but this should have been handled in a much better way. Maybe ask a fellow collegue to help you out and cover your patients for a month (typically when you close your practice or fire a patient, legally you must cover their care for 30 days after written notice) and maybe pay your staff to remain on and answering calls (which means actually picking up the phone when it rings) and sending out records. I know for a fact that your staff could not possibly have handled releasing everyone's records in that short amount of time. I received the letter on the 25th and sent it by fax and mail on the 26th. I doubt most of the patients were as punctual as I was. So if the office was closing on the 2nd how on earth could you possibly have released everyone's medical records? You didn't even give us a chance. I wish the best for you Dr. Albay and I am truly sorry for what you are enduring.
Dr. Albay was my favorite endocrinologist. She was open to discussion with me on my treatment and what I thought needed to be changed. She was also a very active listener and took plenty of time with me in each appointment; I never felt rushed. I feel terrible that she is closing her practice and hope both she and her family are ok. I'll miss her (and Marissa!) not just as a physician, but also as a friend.
Dr. Albay is a fantastic Endocrinologist. She's the first person to actually listen to my wife's complaints and treat them effectively. Probably one of the best Endocrinologists in Orange County. HOWEVER, her office staff is the pits. They take DAYS to return phone calls, never respond to pharmacy refill requests, and don't answer e-mail. You can never get through when calling during office hours -- it always goes to voice mail, which then takes days to return. Coupled with the fact her office is only open 2 days a week, it makes getting anything done nigh impossible. Even trying to pay a bill is an exercise in futility, especially since they don't actually collect a full co-pay when visiting for appointments. It's really a shame that such a great doctor has such a terrible back office.
Dr. Albay herself is a great person with pretty good bedside manners. Unfortunately her lack of care or awareness about how her staff handle her office and her patients nullify all what is good about her. A simple scheduling an appointment or renewing a prescription is an impossible task at her Irvine office. I can understand holidays, shortage of staff, phone outages, sickness or other problems. But this has been a constant theme since I began seeing her about 5 years ago. UNPROFESSIONAL!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
