I have been seeing Dr Grando for about three years now. My penphegus vulgaris is very well under control. This guy knows his stuff. Life is better. He always takes his time to listen and asks if I have any questions. Two thumbs up. I am very fortunate to have him and hi staff at UCI.
I have adult onset acne and have an IUD for birth control. He did not accommodate the fact that I did not want to take a second line of birth control to treat the acne or an antibiotic to treat it. He was very stubborn and only gave me those 2 options. When he left the room another dermatologist told me about a third and fourth option. Does not seem to care about patient thoughts.
Dr Grando ordered biopsy and left the office. After biopsy I was told that Dr, Grando will contact me about the results. I waiterd for a week and no call, Send a message to Dr. through clinic site, no reply. 12 days after biopsy a NURSE called me and informed that I have stage I melanoma and need to come in for further test/procedure. After 6-7 hours I received the second call that they made mistake. Dr Garndo, as attending Dr. Did not care to contact & discuss the results and solution
The expert was no help whatsoever. Most condescending doctor I have met. Have untreated painful skin:hair problems and numerous auto immune issues. Went for 2nd opinion after no luck with Kaiser. Instead of getting ANY opinion or diagnosis, he read notes from a Kaiser dr. (Kreidel) and repeated her exact description word for word for my “perceived” problem. Then told me to get my beautician to confirm what I’m saying in writing, and only then he will help me. Normally I wouldn’t have just left but I was too stunned. I thought Dr. Kreidel in Irvine was the most condescending, uncaring, and in my opinion capable (not) of diagnosing anything beyond acne or a wrinkle. However, Dr. Grando at least pretends he cares about his patients. Pretends. I wish I could submit pictures where anyone can see the problem is not a “perceived” problem. It is real.
I visited Dr. Grando for a screening, as melanoma runs in my family and I have had moles removed in the past that had become misshapen. Dr. Grando walked into the exam room after I waited 45 minutes, asked me why I was in for my visit, cut me off two sentences into my answer and asked me to stand up. After I stood up, he spent less than 30, that's right, 30 seconds looking over my body, told me I was fine and walked out of the room. If I had more space here I'd go into further detail.
I saw doctor Grando a couple of times, nothing great and nothing terrible, just doing this as a job, no more no less. I went to him to simply do a specific skin spray, he did it, and I left, no questions no answers. What is really terrible, based on my own personal experience is his billing staff. They charged me different rates for the same treatment on two different visits and when I tried to contact them to discuss the charges, I did not receive any response whatsoever. All I can say is: Make sure you ask them in advance what are the charges for the required services and what are the rates if using insurance or paying on your own, because they bill be VERY different. If you dont ask in advance then good luck getting things corrected later, or at least this was my first hand experience.
He does not seem to care about the patient and appears to be arrogant.
I waited weeks to see Dr. Grando and it was a waste of my time and money. He spent no more than 5 minutes with me and blew me off.
absolutely terrible did no biopsy or culture told me to leave alone an infection which i later found ut was strep viridens and staph...he said just leave it alone....i went to another doctor who took a culture and found a raging infection...he was too busy impressing his students.by telling them it looks better no and he ignored the thousands of blisters and said that is normal skin..wow for an expert on blistering diseases ..he left me with a dangerous infection...not happy...
It’s been years and I remember like it was yesterday. Horrible experience two times! Am still severely uncomfortable and in pain. Was hoping for second opinion, but he just read notes from my doctor and repeated. A “perceived” symptoms an go to beauty parlor and get a note to say I’m legitimately having symptoms. Very uncaring and disinterested doctor.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
