Denele and the team were exelent...
I told people there he was dangerous. They didn't care. I was told because he had an address you were sending him here. And it took him many hours to arrive at our shock and horror.
I have a loved one who entered the evening IOP program. The first evening there I met Kim, the program director and immediately felt a sense of relief. She was incredible, knows about addiction and mental health and i could feel her passion. Willy, the evening nurse was just as good along with the support staff I encountered. These folks treated my loved one with the upmost respect and care and were extremely supportive to me. This experience and the interactions I and my loved one had eased my soul after a very rough intro year of different hospitals and programs. I definitely recommend API and would have my loved one back in a heartbeat if needed.
This took me over a month to write. I tried writing individual reviews on the amazing impact each staff has made on me, but got overwhelmed lol So here is a group overall review on my experience with API La Mesa IOP. I have been very blessed to have been able to stay in program for 13 months because my insurance allowed it. In the beginning I had no idea what to expect except I was told to trust the process and have patience...which is something that didn't come naturally for me. I am so grateful that Alvarado Parkway Institute was a safe space for me and my emotions that I was fortunate enough to pick up the pieces and Re-build myself. I was essentially starting over from scratch. Everything I knew and grew up with I had to reparent. I can't possibly express my gratitude enough in words and let alone for in every staff that has been part of my journey while being at API, but it starts at the very top with Kim Murphy and her umbrella of hand picked hires. From cafeteria staff, housekeeping, and phlebotomists who come in to draw blood. Ihave had 4 amazing treatment coordinators. Kirren, Cindy, Elahah, and Osiris who have all helped set me up for success from start to finish and my aftercare. Heeva, Michael, Ashley, Dennis, Willy, Lily, Josephine, Dr Di, Lori, Shailene you guys rock. Thank you for putting up with the roller coaster of my emotions. The team is five stars and they really all work as a team which is something I have not often seen in mental health offices There's only one thing I can say that's sad about my experience and that's that I was unable to continue with my therapist Julie outside the facility. Tough shoes to fill now that I have had the best experience, but I trust in myself that I can now advocate, have courage and proceed mindfully thanks to API. I hope this wasn't too long so if you read this far hopefully it sheds a rainbow over this place and gives you hope even when it may seem like there is none. Best of luck and hopefully this helps.
Despite some reviews I can say with confidence the nurses and CNAs saved my life. Nurses Ross,Bree, Jake, and CNAs Jaykkob, Amalie, Amber, and so many more just to name a few treated me like family which I have never had in my life. Yes sometimes the admin and how things are fun are a little janky but I was treated like a human for once in my life. They got me out of a very dark place and I will forever be thankful. They deserve raises!
Provides no information and extends holds without explanation to family or others. Repeatedly promises to return calls, give info, then cites privacy, if they even return a call at all.
Have no idea why say they to longer beyond there intent? I locked door all down to hallways then tried bust out door to examine outside all that goes to my room. Told them I was going knock someone out, I did it and they they okay with it. They cannot hold you only your primary physician. So need to stop lying
Dr. Samuel Etchie is the worst psychiatrist. I do not recommend this hospital or location in any way.
Completely understand the laws of confidentiality, but trying to get a hold of someone to leave. A message is impossible at times as no one answers on their end to talk to an operator as well as the operator machine Hangs up automatically sometimes Gives you an uneasy, feeling trying to pass a message along to To someone
I owe API so much. I did in patient detox then followed up with IOT for a few months. I feel so equiped to battle my addiction to alcohol now. These people that run this place...the thearpist, nurses everyone cares about you and takes care of you. I am 120 days sober and its because of API.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
