List of Ira D Sharlip's Reviews
I have been a patient with Dr. Sharlip for about 4 years. He is an outstanding doctor, has great interaction with his patients, and provides oustanding health care. I highly recommend Dr. Sharlip of San Francisco. Jim Vorrises
I have been with Dr. Sharlip for at least 15 years - if not longer. I give him the highest marks on medical skills and people skills. His office seems to be very efficient now - many years ago there were admin problems - but that staff is gone now. I find Dr. Sharlip to be very knowledgeable in the medical aspects of his job and very thorough. He is also a very kind man. A nice quality in a doctor. I highly recommend him.
After reviewing the results from the blood diagnostic from my annual check-up, my primary doctor referred me to Dr. Sharlip for further follow-up. At my first appointment with Dr. Sharlip, I saw that he was a caring doctor. He took the time to explain the results from my blood diagnostics and the next step to be taken to ensure the diagnostic result was negative. He answered my questions and reassured me in the process that he is taking for me. Over the course of the next five months, Dr. Sharlip prescribed a 4K test and then a MRI, where the results were equivocal. He then prescribed and performed a fusion biopsy procedure on July 2nd. He said due to the upcoming holiday, the results would not come back until the following Monday. The doctor calls me the evening of the next day and wanted to tell me the good news that the results came back early and were negative so that I wouldn't worry over the holiday and weekend. I am fortunate to have been under Dr. Sharlip's care during this time. He showed the ultimate care of his patient as evidenced from his calls to me in the early evening and even on Saturday. I feel reassured that I will be under Dr. Sharlip's bi-annual care.
Dr. Ira Sharlip is one the best Urologist in United States. Since past 8 years I visited 4 different Urologists, but the results for me from one visit with Dr. Sharlip was better than every other doctor. He spent good time with me, listened to me carefully with no rush. He is such a well mannered gentleman. He is a very caring and knowledgeable doctor with great sense of humor. I give an a solute 5 Star for his professional Services. Tanisha is the Receptionist and she is also very nice and friendly with Patients, she also deserves 5 star.
Fans of Dr. Sharlip will be glad to hear that he has a new, much better, office staff.
Really good doctor. Very trustworthy and competent.
I really recommend Dr. Sharlip. I went to see him to check out some changing urinary patterns I was having and he was able to take care of me, do an ultra sound, check my urine and listen to all my concerns patiently. I love that he has been doing this work for many many years and came very recommended.
I've been a patient of Dr. Sharlip for over 20 years! He is an old school doctor that takes his time with you and doesn't rush you out the door after a few minutes. If this means having to wait a few minutes for him, so be it. It's worth the wait as he truly listens to you and wants to know everything about your health, and not just about the urological symptoms. All the younger doctor's I've seen over the years act like there's a stopwatch ticking, but NOT Dr. Sharlip. He will take as long as necessary to ask you many questions and root out various reasons for your issues. He is truly a kind, gentle soul and is very knowledgeable in his field. We are all VERY lucky to have such a gifted physician in the Bay Area! I would highly recommend Dr. Sharlip to anyone needing urological care!!! My only regret is that he isn't my primary care physician. I hope Dr. Sharlip is around for many more years as he is a pleasure to work with.
Dr. Sharlip did a fine job. He was very professional and a generally nice guy. The vasectomy was quick, painless and the end result was that it worked. Cost was reasonable, in my opinion. Regrettably I have to agree with a reviewer below that his support staff is a bit lacking. I won't go into details. Just be aware of that when you visit his office. Fun fact: Dr. Sharlip was at one time a flight surgeon based in San Francisco when Crissy Field was still an active air base.
Lets start with 5 stars. I understand you are important enough to leave me waiting 20 minutes while you chit-chat with your staff and then lie to me about the reason I was kept waiting. Next time please do your patients the courtesy of closing the door so they can't hear you discuss the sports game. -1 star. I understand it's par for the course for a doctor in your esteemed position to be arrogant. Conversely it's par for the course for me to tell others how I don't like it. -1 star. I don't like the process I had to go through to see my own records at your office. I deal with doctors and HIPPA the whole time so I know how this is meant to work. -1 star. For the record: I don't doubt your skills and expertise. -0 stars. You get 2 stars. Thats about right -- though I'd prefer to give 2.5. Clearly "Meh" territory. Not a particularly bad experience but I deal with medical professionals (including other rockstars) enough to have a strong basis of comparison. The good news? I'm guessing you don't care in the least what people say on yelp ... -J

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
