List of Golden State Dermatology San Mateo's Reviews
I'm not familiar with the dermatology side of things, but as far as laser goes, Cybele is the absolute best! She was very attentive and kind during our consultation and sessions. I also have no idea what laser they're using, but any pain and discomfort were so extremely minor compared to my previous experiences in different areas from different providers. The laser hair removal here is definitely pricier compared to other places, but if you can afford it, the service more than certainly makes up for it!
The dermatology dept is extremely disorganized. The doctor I saw (Amin) was rushed and completely disinterested. She talked over me, and I believe I saw her for about 6 whole minutes. Multiple attempts/calls to communicate on medications with no reponses or concern. Long wait times on the phone (years ago this wasn't the case), and the front desk is unkind and rude, as many others have stated. When you are dealing with medical skin conditions / skin cancer checks, it's kind of unnerving to have bitchy staff greet you - as much as I try to not let anyone elses bad attitude affect me. I have been a client for 8 years, but am currently looking for new care. :(
If you need unprofessional treatment, go ahead. People there are so rude they will yell at you--super unprofessional. Don't spend your money on this place because it's not worth your visit. This place is nasty and expensive every visit they charge $125. I hope this place closes or stops charging money every visit. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY. Go somewhere less expensive.
The worst service I have ever gotten regardless of what kind of business it is, they do not care about their patients
The worst, least professional service I have ever gotten. Avoid, expensive and unorganized
Be aware of laser if you have sensitive skin. Seems like they really don't have any medical background and they say it will make it worse or it could make it better, hoping to get you on the hook. If you get sensitive, they will recommend another/different laser and who knows what will happen. For me, it made it worse. You may want to get a second opinion before just trusting the laser tech.
Annie Workman Coots is wonderful. She has the kind of personality that instantly puts you at ease. She's down to earth, kind, compassionate and easy to talk with, as well as being knowledgeable and very good at what she does.
I am not reviewing the Allura Skin & Laser Center, but my lost in trust in Dr. Kerry Heitmiller. The reason I went to see Dr. Heitmiller was I thought I had a boil on the back of my leg. My leg was extremely hot, very red, and painful. Dr. looked at it and said that I just needed and antibiotic and I could keep it wrapped if I wanted too. I asked her about the pus in the boil if it should be cultured since my baby was just released from the hospital with MRSA. Dr. said no the antibiotic will take care of it and "Everyone is so afraid of MRSA, these days, but it really isn't that big of a thing." She said if it gets worse call me. I am not exaggerating when I say she was in the exam room for 5 minutes or less. I picked up the antibiotics and started taking it. Early evening (same day I saw the doctor/Friday of a long weekend)my leg was getting worse and so was the pain, so I called the office and was told someone would get back to me. One and half months later I am still waiting for someone to get back to me. The next day continued on antibiotics, but leg was still getting worse. Early on the third day I could not take the pain any longer, or the look of the leg and now I had a temp. I went to UCSF Emergency on Parnassus to have someone take a look at it. They were outstanding just wonderful. The doctor took one look at it and said, I had cellulitis. He then ordered Blood work, blood cultures, culture of the yuck that was coming out of the wound. He did an ultra-sound because the wound was deep. After the ultra-sound he ordered a CT Scan to get a better look because he wanted to make sure it did not hit the muscle. Wound ended up being sliced open and drained; it is still in the process for healing. I spent a few days in the hospital on IV trying different antibiotics to see which would work the best. (it was MRSA) I know Dr. Heitmiller, MRSA is no big deal. But the doctors at UCSF seem to defer with you. When I called to cancel my follow up appointment with Dr. Heitmiller the office asked me why. I told the lady and she said someone will definitely return my call. Once again still WAITING for a phone call. I would like to post pictures of the back of my leg, but I really don't want anyone to throw up. It is my understanding that Allure was bought out by a corporation, so perhaps that is why this all happened ... could it be numbers come before patient care? Well, I guess Dr. Heitmiller would be a better judge to answer that question. STILL WAITING FOR THE PHONE CALL!
Dr Cybele Pelcher is professional, patient, and knowledgeable with positive energy. She shared lots of useful information for me to better take care of my skin, and give me detailed cost and benefit of each method. I am delighted and grateful to avoid unnecessary laser treatments and able to choose the best way for my current situation.
This place is the absolute WORST and should be shut down! I cannot recommend at all. Just go anywhere else but this place.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
