After seeing 5 different dermatologists and PAs over six months to address my sudden and intense rash outbreaks, I am now seeing Dr. Lucinda Kohn - what a breath of fresh air! She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate. After reviewing my electronic chart and carefully listening to what I am experiencing and what I've done to address the issue so far, she suggested a concrete path forward and took the time to explain the "why's" behind her recommendations. I am so grateful to be in her care, and I trust that I now have a healthcare partner who will help me resolve my skin issues - whatever it takes.
I have never been called back, it takes a minimum of 7 calls to speak to anyone at the front desk, Dr.’s don’t respond on my chart and it feels like they don’t take you seriously. I was told I had an autoimmune disease, but the reality was it was just a regular rash. If possible use any other dermatologist in the area!!!
Don't go here! I went several times and they can not explain why they bill 10x vs prior visit. Can't help with much related to billing or charges, "just pay it"
Doctor is efficient and quick after the patient finds this place lol. There's no signage whatsoever, very easy to pass up. If you've gone to the Medical Plaza at 4000 Civic Center Drive, you've gone too far. They're located at the bottom of the hill. There are multiple parking structures/buildings, very confusing. Please put more signage, and big arrows pointing in the right direction perhaps.
Charged for treatments that were not performed, and they refuse to cancel the billing. How desperate are doctors these days? I will seek dermatology services elsewhere.
I paid for Services with a credit card in the office. I have been getting invoices from UCSF Billing Department for months for the service I paid for. Repeated calls into the billing department has resulted in no resolution. The billing department says they see my credit card payment but it doesn't synch with their billing system . This is a direct result of UCSF buying up medical practices and having poor integration of the acquired pravtices. If you have similar problems, call 800 565 6049. the billing department number. You may speak with Briana. Her boss is Andrea. They seem to have no ability to resolve problems that deal with their computerized billing system. But they are the only live interface UCSF provides for billing problems . You will find Kaiser is a better alternative to UCSF!
Doctors are excellent but office staff not so much. Lot ‘s of socializing going on with front desk staff. I arrived 10 minutes early with my husband for back to back appointments. I gave receptionist both our names and my husband was called in immediately. I waited almost an hour then told the receptionist I had to leave for another appointment. Her response was, You never checked in.
The only positive comment I have to share is the receptionist was friendly and professional. The Dr. was abrupt and aloof. Her assistant was rude and acted like she hated being there. I will be looking for dermatology care elsewhere.
Re. Zettersen, she was not thorough, refusing to examine one area on my chest that was receiving treatment. She withheld advice on products to manage my skin, was sarcastic about one in particular that I asked about it, and secured time to blow her own horn on her research. I used - and wasted - my referral on this non-service and will therefore not receive care on the schedule I was recommended to maintain for my risk category.
full body skin check took less than 2 min on my most recent visit? feels like the doctor is mailing it in. also, glad i'm just on the hook for my co-pay because they go to town on billing. every time there is a line item for treatment/diagnosis of several things which entailed simply stating something out loud. e.g. i had a scab healing from a recent cut and that was a call out to "keep an eye on that" or something, and that gets billed to insurance. also very hard to even get an appointment unless you book months in advance. i'll probably stop coming here.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
