List of Belmont Village Senior Living Encino's Reviews
As someone who works in healthcare and interacts with seniors daily, I’ve developed a deep understanding of what separates a great assisted living community from an average one. It always starts at the top—and Abby Traxler, the Executive Director at this location, is the kind of leader every community needs. Her compassion is genuine. I remember sitting in the lobby once and overhearing her warmly speak to a resident, recalling not only his five children’s names but also the names of his pets. The smile on his face said it all—he felt seen, valued, and truly cared for. Equally impressive is Cortney, the Director of Resident Care Services. She goes above and beyond, regularly texting with my team late into the evening to ensure every detail is taken care of and that both residents and their families feel supported. It’s incredibly rare to find someone so accessible and dedicated—especially in that role. Thank you, Abby and Cortney, for setting a new standard in senior care. Your heart and commitment do not go unnoticed.
Lots of trouble with administration and getting the refund owed to me. That said the facility was beautiful and the people were caring.
My mother was a resident at BV and lived in the memory unit for four years, beginning during Covid. The staff has always been top notch. They take great care of the residents and all of them expressed their sadness when my mom passed. The rooms are cozy and well maintained. The memory unit has a great secured courtyard where the residents can stroll around or just sit and enjoy the outside. The nursing staff is also good and keeps in contact with you. My mom enjoyed the food there. While the staff in the memory unit is awesome, management not so much! Abby who is charge of the entire facility NEVER returns calls no matter how many times you leave messages. She is cordial and professional if you ever get a chance to speak with her but not returning calls is a serious issue for me. I called Abby to tell her my mother passed, who of course was not there, so I spoke with the assistant director Courtney. I told her I would be flying in from the East Coast in three days to clear out her room. I mentioned I will need a little time to find a home for my mothers cat who lived with her. The room was fully paid ($$$$) until the end of the month and it was only the 18th. Not only did she tell me that I had to have everything out ASAP ( inferring one day), including the cat, but she NEVER said anything about my mom passing. You would imagine they lose residents all the time and she would know how to behave. I don't care who you are, if someone tells you their mother died two days ago you say, "I'm so sorry for your loss" or something appropriate! My mother had not even been in her room for two months because she was at an Acute Care Facility: the rent was always paid in full on time. Shameful aberrant behavior by management!!! I flew into town on a Sunday, the next day I went to Belmont to assess what had to be done and start cleaning out my mothers room, plus visit kitty still not knowing what I was going to do with him. Courtney had made me extremely anxious because of her behavior. Thank God for Kate Blackman, the Director of the Memory Unit. First thing thing she told me was that the staff was very sad to lose my mother because she was well liked and Kitty had become a bit of a mascot since she was not there. Then she said no worries about cleaning out the room, take your time. I was so relieved and I immediately felt less pressure but get this, her sister adopted my mothers cat!!!! Above and beyond is a wild understatement !! I recommend BV in Sherman Oaks, on the strength of their staff, it is an excellent facility and the Memory Unit is the best with a director who should be an example for the entire industry. Still not loving the rest of the management though, they clearly need additional training when it comes to customer service and sensitivity. Anne Wood the District Supervisor is great and listens. Hopefully Anne you are taking notes.
Great staff and great facility
Beautiful place
Rooms are filthy, management doesn’t care about residents and only care about the money despite caregivers voicing their concerns about safety. Employees get injured and management and other higher ups turn a blind eye. Do not home your family or loved ones here.
Everyone is so loving and caring for my uncle and they truly feel like a family there. Big thanks for the birthday celebration for him!
While, of late, I have lambasted another "memory care" institution, I have NO REASON to be in any way dismayed by the exceptional care and treatment my husband has received at Belmont Village, Encino. What separates people like Daniel Sagal (head of TotalSenior, and a con man with no morals) and Abigail Traxler, who is the Executive Director of Belmont Village, Encino, are qualities one can neither buy nor aspire to: total dedication and honest care for the individuals for whom she, ultimately, is completely in charge. It has been an horrific odyssey for me to elect to put my husband in any facility, but I had no recourse: I could not take care of him and his ever burgeoning disease at home, alone, any longer. Since being at Belmont, easily going on six months, my husband has received excellent care and consideration and the organization has been in touch with me on a regular basis should any questions or issues occur. Even when I've been ticked off (as we all are from time to time), the people there have responded to me with kindness, clearly well acquainted with the level of distress I am in having a loved with a deadly disease away from home. Abby Traxler has taken every one of my calls and addressed every one of my issues, and has applied her vast experience with patients with Lewy Body Dementia on a consistent and caring basis with my husband. She has gotten back to me in record time and always, always, always kept my needs in mind as she considers the needs of my husband. The PALS (assistants who work with the patients daily) are, by and large, superb, but Abby is the stand out, and her behavior with my husband is beyond reproach. Applause to you, Abby, for your kindness and experience, both of which are always put to exceptional use. As a beneficiary of that consideration, I am in your debt, as is my husband.
I would love to visit again 🙏
The facility is obviously top notch! It is clean and well kept! The staff is very nice and anticipated many of my questions before I asked. I am very glad that my friend have a place to be care for and comforted’

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
