Jacobo A Cruz's Online Review Report Card

I highly recommend the offices of Jacob A Cruz. The lady who answers the phone there (Brenda) is an absolute SAINT! She's so sweet, she made me feel cared for after trying all day, calling around to get an appointment. She said that it's just her in the office but she tries her best to get back with patients, the treatment I received was night and day in comparison to some of the other places I tried to contact. Most importantly my appointment is within the month! For anyone trying to get an appointment with a Tricare referral, I highly recommend them! Update: I have been an ongoing patient of Dr. Cruz for over a year now and my initial impression has not been altered. I recently learned that they accept Tricare Prime so I will be sticking with my treatment even after the conclusion of my military service

I love Dr. Cruz! I have been with him for 4 years. I like how he ignores what previous psychiatrists have diagnosed me with and let's me tell my life story. I told him once that I can't have meds that have weight gain or insomnia as side effects and he listened and remembers. I have been through so many different meds and unlike past psychiatrists who would tell me they don't have anything else to prescribe he has always been patient with me. I have probably been prescribed over 15 meds by him. They work for awhile then I start to get a side effect. Dr. Cruz is an amazing psychiatrist. Brenda is nice. I one time missed my appointment even though she called me the day before to remind me and she let me come in several hours later just so I wouldn't be charged for the session. I highly recommend this psychiatrist!

Dr Cruz has ignored my concerns of weight gain, itchiness, depression, IE all the side effects of my medications. He never listens to me or even told me about these concerns or maybe that one of them has a 80% chance of weight gain. I’ve been crying for hours. The last year of my life has been horrible bc I thought the depression and lack of feeling emotions was MY fault. WTH. He ruined my life by not informing me and even talking over me when I asked why he didn’t tell me these things WHILE THEY WERE HAPPENING so we could change my medications SO IT WOULDNT happen to me anymore. HORRIBLE DOCTOR!

Brenda has the worst disposition as if she hates her life and treats people in an awful way as if she wants them to be miserable like her. Shes the receptionist admin and is rude on the phone.. One of the least likable beings I've ever encountered in my life. Even when she seems like she's going to act cordial, she has a tone of attitude. Brenda is a disservice to the public. I judge Dr.Cruz for employing this pariah for so many years.

Dr Jacobo Cruz is caring and professional. His staff is also.

Would NEVER book an appointment with him again. First of all, booking was an extreme hassle because I was bothering the staff trying to be seen (at a Dr office- imagine that). Then, instead of having an online questionnaire or pre visit paperwork- he spent 50 mins of the (1.15 hour) session asking me family history and medications. Then proceeded to tell me that he would only do what textbooks have told him how to treat patients. EVEN-THOUGH!, I continued to say how XYZ doesn’t work for me and why that is not a viable option. Then, told me- until you’re ready to drop all your meds and take what the textbook says… don’t come back. Don’t worry. I won’t.

Dr Cruz has been wonderful to me as has Miss Brenda. They are always kind and helpful when I call. I never wait long to see Dr Cruz either. If I have an emergency they get me right in. I think the world of both of them.

Do not go to this doctor. He is insensitive and doesn't listen to his patients. I have seen many doctors for these issues and never once have I been treated this way. He was rude, insensitive and didn't listen to what I had to say. I came in to consult about medication and he didn't help me with that at all and practically had me leaving I tears. Gave me a diagnosis that I have no symptoms of whatsoever and disregarded a past history of anxiety and depression. Don't send your loved ones here. He doesn't even deserve the one star I gave me. His staff are ill prepared and rude as well.

Dr. Cruz is a truly gifted practitioner - he has what cannot be taught or learned in a formal education. Raw knowledge, anyone can gain by a fine education but Dr. Cruz has the innate character of a compassionate humanitarian caregiver which cannot be said of all professionals in this field. Having bumped into more than a few during my painful 40+ year struggle, I speak from direct experience. Fortunately for myself and other patients, Dr. Cruz uses his life long pursuit of gaining further understanding & knowledge by filtering it through what is an exceptional and importantly autonomous intelligence, tempered by common sense and real life experience. It has made all the difference to me and I often think of how lucky I am to have such a brilliant, humble, compassionate doctor as part of my brain health care and treatment team. Thank you, so very much Brenda for getting me on the schedule and all you do is appreciated and noticed.

In 2014 - 2015 I consulted Dr. Cruz for severe depression. He recommended electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). He performed ECT under general anesthesia in a hospital setting. I felt no pain during the procedure. Woke up in the recovery room. Was driven home by family member. After 3 ECT treatments I am fine. Dr. Cruz changed my meds. I highly recommend Dr. Cruz. He is competent, professional, caring and compassionate.
