List of Erin Nelson's Reviews
Did a fantastic job on my foot & ankle. Pain free for the first time in 5 years!
I had bunion surgery over 6 months with Dr. Erin Nelson. I tried to research Dr. Nelson and didn't find a lot, but since she was the chair of the group and was very friendly to work with I decided to go with her. I was a little surprised that she didn't discuss any possible risks associated with the surgery with me. I ended up doing my own research and discussing what I found with her, and she was fairly dismissive of any concerns I had. I am still having discomfort (definitely more than I had before the surgery), swelling, constant pins and needles sensations, and increased discomfort after any activity than walking. By most accounts, I am sad to report that based on my internet research, it IS unusual that my foot is not further along, and I am of course worried that it has been permanently damaged. My foot is also less responsive, i.e. I trip over things much more easily now. My leg also falls asleep very easily, so it often takes me awhile to get up from a chair and get moving.
She casted me for a "broken foot" for 4 months, 3 of which were non weight bearing. When I got the cast off, I developed stress fractures due to a 20-30% loss in bone density. She then looked at the stress fracture x-ray and told me I had cysts on my bones (I am a current cancer patient). She said not to worry. We'll just x-ray them every month. Because of our concern with bone cancer, we went to Mayo to see an Orthopedic Oncologist. He said that not only do I have NO cysts on my bones, but it was never broken in the first place! It was just a bad sprain. I spent 9 months in casts and various types of treatments to finally find out it was never broken!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
