I had bunion surgery over 6 months with Dr. Erin Nelson. I tried to research Dr. Nelson and didn't find a lot, but since she was the chair of the group and was very friendly to work with I decided to go with her. I was a little surprised that she didn't discuss any possible risks associated with the surgery with me. I ended up doing my own research and discussing what I found with her, and she was fairly dismissive of any concerns I had. I am still having discomfort (definitely more than I had before the surgery), swelling, constant pins and needles sensations, and increased discomfort after any activity than walking. By most accounts, I am sad to report that based on my internet research, it IS unusual that my foot is not further along, and I am of course worried that it has been permanently damaged. My foot is also less responsive, i.e. I trip over things much more easily now. My leg also falls asleep very easily, so it often takes me awhile to get up from a chair and get moving.
