List of Eugene Kwon's Reviews
My experience with Dr. Kwon began when my prostate cancer metastasized in 2015. In 2008, with a Gleason score of 4+5, I had a radical prostatectomy and then went through hormone, radiation, and chemo therapies. I was cancer-free for 7 years. Upon recurrence, local docs knew the cancer had returned but could not locate it. Dr. Kwon’s Choline-11 scan found it in lymph nodes in my chest. He ordered up 6 chemo treatments, put me back on hormone therapy and prescribed Zytiga. On my follow-up visit, halfway thru chemotherapy, my PSA was undetectable and the Choline scan found no evidence of cancer. I finished the chemo regimen (ugh) and stayed on Zytiga for 27 months. I continue to receive Lupron hormone therapy and am happy to report no signs of cancer in five years. AND I feel great! Thank you, Dr. Kwon!
I had my prostate removed in September, 2002 and in 2017 my PSA count had risen, indicating a recurrence of prostate cancer. At that time, it was recommended that I see Dr. Eugene Kwon and have seen him regularly ever since. I completed 36 radiation treatments that Dr. Kwon and his team targeted as a radiation path designed specifically for my particular area of cancer recurrence. I now see Dr. Kwon annually for blood work, Pet Scan and personal follow-up. On alternating six month periods, I receive a blood kit to have blood drawn from my local hospital and mailed to Mayo for processing. I lived in Rochester at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge for the period of my radiation and found it a very nice environment. Local ammenities, like the YMCA and restaurants were easily accessible and for any questions that arose, there was always someone available with answers or information. I would recommend anyone in need of prostate cancer treatment, to head directly to Mayo Clinic.
I've been with Dr. Kwon since 2014. I've been amazed at the specialized testing to produce early intervention in prostate cancer. Thanks to Dr. Kwon and the excellent Team at Mayo Clinic & Hospital Rochester - I plan to live a VERY LONG and happy life.
Dr. Kwon is truly exceptional. He is thoughtful, contemplative, extremely personable and his expertise is superior. We were at Stage 4 metastasized prostate cancer, with little or no warning or symptoms, seemingly overnight. Joel, who answered our first call, assisted us in getting our records and test results to the appropriate triage team and immediately arranged for a choline scan and appointment with Dr. Kwon. Dr. Kwon's review of my husband's somewhat unique situation led us to the very best chemotherapy program the following day. The oncologist helped us limit side effects, maintain strength and a good quality of life throughout treatment. Dr. Kwon and Dr. Hugec saved my husband's life, and we are eternally grateful to them and the circumstances which led us there. After six rounds of chemotherapy, my husband is cancer free. We feel we are in the care of the very best doctor anywhere in the world.
For 65 years I have been a very healthy man. During the spring of 2020 I could tell something was wrong inside me. It wasn't a pain or real distinguishable discomfort, but something just didn't feel right. After scheduling an appointment with my local doctor, my PSA was slightly elevated at 5.1. After thirty days of antibiotics, my PSA was 8.3. Still not overly concerned, I went to a urologist and made my case for a biopsy. Reluctantly it was scheduled, and I was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer. Following a bone scan, we learned I had dozens of metastasized tumors on my bones. That is when I called Mayo. Dr. Kwon's team arranged for additional testing and a choline scan, confirming the diagnosis. He arranged for my chemotherapy with Dr. Vladimir Hugec. After six chemotherapy infusions, all of my tumors were gone and I am cancer free. I owe my life to the exceptional care of Mayo Clinic, Dr. Kwon and Dr. Hugec, for which I will be eternally grateful!
My husband was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005 and received local treatment. In 2011, the cancer recurred, and upon calling Mayo Clinic, my husband was told that Dr Kwon was their top specialist in recurrent prostate cancer. Dr Kwon and his colleagues have kept my husband alive and kept his prostate cancer at bay, referring him to radiation and chemotherapy and medication as needed to deal with each recurrence. It is 2021, my husband is now 74, and his cancer, while not curable, is suppressed at the moment; and his quality of life is good.
Dr. Kwon and his team saved my husbands life. We had other doctors tell us to get our affairs in order and sent us out the door with no hope. We happened to get another opinion from Dr Kwon and we are so happy we did. He was aggressive with his treatment of the cancer and beat it. We can’t say enough great things about Dr Kwon and his team at Mayo.
Dr. Kwon has been fabulous. He exhibited a deep understanding of my condition and was clear and compelling in proposing and explaining the proposed curse of treatment. I now see him every few months while working with a terrific local oncologist for delivery of my monthly injections and earlier my regular chemo drips. As important, his key staff support is terrific-- very professional, attentive and available. Plus the resources and facilities at Mayo are unparalleled. Best decision I have ever made. i recommend heartily.
My husband is a patient of Dr. Kwon’s. I have been present for all of the appointments and have been throughly impressed with the level of care my husband has received. We feel fortunate to have Dr. Kwon leading the fight against prostate cancer.
Dr. Kwon is a fabulous doctor and health care counsellor/advisor. He is clear, open and compelling in his assessments, prognosis and recommendations of courses of therapy. The results have been nothing short of spectacular. In addition, his staff is equally clear, supportive and available. And the resources and facilities of Mayo are first class. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
