Joseph Lajoie's Online Review Report Card

Very inconsiderate and unhelpful

Came in due to severe depression several years ago. I will never forget Dr. Lajoie's advice to me, which was a lecture about how I need to be more like Donald Trump because he "doesn't care what anyone thinks of him." He also sent in an intern, without permission and whom had no qualifications, to come in and question me/take notes in his notepad about this very personal issue before the Dr had even seen me. Safe to say I left feeling totally violated and FAR worse than before. To this day my sister and I shake our heads and laugh about how truly bad this experience was from start to finish. I will never go back to this location and would advise anyone looking for quality care to seek another, more caring doctor. We have a long way to go as far mental health care in this country but WOW... this is to date the worst medical visit I have ever experienced.

Was in charge of my mother's care in the hospital. She was in serious condition and he was no where to be found during her last day of life until she was literally taking her last breath. He may be fine if you are seeing him at his practice. However, he should not be in charge of any case in the hospital ….he doesn’t have time with his busy practice and no emergency number to get a hold of him. Even the nurses had difficulty and were too afraid to continue to bother him. You will get annoying jazz music for at least a half hour before anyone picks up just to make an appointment…and at night or wee hours of the morning when your mom is circling the drain, forget it. Even the nurse turned away my sister from seeing our mother before she died, saying “until Dr Lajoie says she is dying, we don’t consider her dying.” Dr Lajoie didn’t show up till it was too late, and my mother never received comfort care. She died before they had time to give it to her. Unacceptable

Great experience, Dr. Lajoie went over my lab results and took the time to listen and understand my needs. Highly recommended!

Awful - has no business rounding at a hospital when he doesn’t have the time to respond to emergencies. His lack of response led to unnecessary suffering ..

This guy is very knowledgeable will take his time with you and answer all your questions.

Had a appointment at 11.00 got there at 10:40 got called back at 11:45 was told that he was running behind just got back from vacation . Nice to know wish I could run my business that way and my customers would pay me to wait ! Gotten to big and lack any of that small town feeling they used to have . Just a number there now . I started noticing a back injury October 30, 2020. I tried chiropractic treatment, and got little relief. Thanksgiving 2020 came around, and I was wrestling with the nephews... The next day, I could hardly walk... I ended up in the ER and following up with CMG the following day. Dr. Joseph Lajoie responded to my medical question sent to the practice. I explained that I was in the worst pain that I ever experienced; I also needed to tell him that I was in long term recovery from opiates. We tried several different medications via orally and intramuscular injections. I started physical therapy immediately with the direction of the doctor. My pain remained sever. We learned that I had a significant herniated disk, which needed surgery. Dr. Lajoie provided me an excellent referral. My pain remained sever. I was eventually prescribed a fast acting synthetic opiate. The pain decreased. Throughout this entire process, I followed up with the doctor, and made sure that I was not abusing the medication. Dr. Lajoie was always there for me. I have been off opiates for nearly two weeks. My pain is non existing and my cravings for pain medication is minimal. As a recovering opiate addict, I was scared how my body and mind would react once consumption was complete. Accountability and honesty was a significant pillar to my success. Thanks Dr. Lajoie, I couldn't imagine doing this without you.

Definetly deserves more than a 5 star rating! Dr. Joseph Lajoie is a very compassionate and understanding down to earth Family Physician. He's a very professional, supportive, excellent, caring and knowledgeable Physician. You will be treated as a "patient" and not just a "number"! Dr. Joseph Lajoie handles himself professionally. He treats his patients and family with the utmost respects. He takes the time to listen to any concerns you may have. He genuinely cares about you "his patient"! Dr. Joseph Lajoie continues to do hospital rounds to provide continuity of care to his patients that are admitted into the hospital he is affiliated with.. In which is unheard of for a Family Physician and proves his exceptional care he continues to provide. My only regret was not switching to him sooner for mine and my families Family Physician. He has earned our trust as his patient's. I am forever grateful for the Physician out of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland who referred me to Dr. Joseph Lajoie.
