List of Asheville Gastroenterology Associates's Reviews
Nearly impossible to get an appointment here. You can call and call and you’ll be on hold all day. Then they call you back after hours and if you miss the call and try to return it one minute later you can’t get through. Tried to cancel my appointment the day of for insurance reasons beyond my control and couldn’t get in touch with any schedulers of course. They want a $50 fee just to reschedule. I would never do business with a medical facility that charges you to reschedule your appointment. That is insane. Just go somewhere else and save yourself the frustration of waiting on hold infinitely.
Great staff Very helpful and friendly. They even helped me out to my car.
Excellent care from extremely educated doctors. I can’t imagine going elsewhere for more caring doctors. While in the hospital having serious procedures my doctors had someone with me or my husband through every step of the way. Dr. Meyers Dr. Harlan Dr Zoviny and Dr. Newcomer. I normally see Dr. DeCosta who excellent as well
Everyone involved from the receptionist straight through to the doctor we’re very professional courteous and a pleasure to speak with. Great bunch of folks I certainly recommend them highly.
Very disappointed I gave them a call in the morning around 10am waited over 40 mins and nobody pick up the phone then i waited until afternoon around 2pm gave them another call and still nobody pick up the phone so i went ahead and left them my phone number automated phone service said we will give you a call back by 7pm today. It was around 626pm i was at home washing dishes suddenly i heard my phone ringed in my bed room the phone ringed once and i was running towards my bedroom to pick up the call after the second ring i was by my phone ready to pick up the call then they literally just hung up the up. I tried to give them a call back but store is closed this is very unprofessional and Im very disappointed at this waited entire day for nothing.....
Shelia Coleman was very helpful in scheduling my husbands procedure. She went above and beyond.
Rude and condescending doctor and reception is extremely slow. Would not recommend.
I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Garvin Will and LaToya. I was terrified prior to my procedure and they each treated me with such kindness and dignity. I look forward to being a patient of Dr. Garvin’s for years to come.
If this review were based solely on whether AGA is efficient courteous professional and skilled in each team members area of expertise I would give a five star review. As of right now Im giving them a three star review. I might come back in and update it to a two or a four depending on how things go with an upcoming appointment. The main things that troubled me were that for both of my procedures I was still slobbering on myself and cognitively impaired from anesthesia when the doctors came in to give me results. I was up and getting dressed when I wasnt entirely sure which direction was up or down left or right. It was very disorienting. I think an extra half hour in recovery would resolve that problem. The other thing is that I feel like I had to get very abrasive and aggressive with my questions and concerns in order to be heard and understood and the reports notes I read through although not necessarily inaccurate failed to demonstrate that clear communication had taken place between myself and the provider. I will concede that my hot head probably didnt help matters any but after a year of dealing with chronic pain and providers not AGA but elsewhere doing absolutely nothing to help it is difficult to remain patient and cordial. My first visit to AGA provided no answers other than ruling out certain issues checking this and that off the list of possible reasons for my pain. I refused the diagnosis of IBS and didnt take the recommended prescriptions. After my second visit and results this proved to be the right decision. My second visit happened after an exhausting telehealth visit. I was outraged at the providers inability to give yes or no answers to the most basic questions. I cant give details here because my body functions are private but let me put it like this. If you Google a certain symptom Is it normal for X to happen and virtually every single site says no it is not normal and you need to see a doctor to find out why this happening then one would expect that a yesno answer would be in order from the doctor. I needed those yesno answers at the beginning to be sure that my symptoms were not being lightly brushed off as they had been over the past year. It is a providerpatient trust thing. Although that telehealth appointment was unpleasant she did order a test that actually gave me some hope that maybe one day I can get an accurate diagnosis and treatment. They found what I consider to be the check engine light. I still dont have the real problem diagnosed but I have a symptom of the real problem diagnosed which is a step in the right direction.
Have requested a callback from scheduling three times. No callbacks. Waited in the phone at least 45 minutes to talk to someone. Call was dropped in less than five minutes.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
