List of Piedmont Plastic Surgery And Dermatology's Reviews
This is the first review I have ever written on Yelp. My visit today to Dr. Yanez will be my last to this physician. He was condescending, disrespectful and dismissive. And, incredibly he seemed totally oblivious as to how he was coming across. In my opinion, this is a man who has lost or lacks self awareness, empathy and concern for patients who may come to him seeking care. He was so tone deaf that I just let him have his moment without causing a scene and left. I won't be back.
Avoid this disaster at all costs. I've literally never been to any other healthcare provider that is as disorganized and lax as this one. There is routinely a ten minute wait just to check in (with a line out the door). They have had the wrong phone number for us on file since we started going there and although we have asked multiple staff members to correct it, the number is still wrong. I made an appointment for my son and gave the woman on the phone my email to send forms and she never sent them. Then we showed up for the appointment, and not only did they claim he had no appointment scheduled (I made it by phone with Christine Thigpen's clinician the day before so there was no mistake) but they also told me Christine had to leave for an emergency, and yet no one called to tell me this. No calls, no texts, no emails. It's not a huge loss because Christine is rude, dismissive and condescending and just made a bunch of guesses about my son's skin, so we have been researching other providers anyway. But the massive inconvenience and lack of attention to rudimentary doctor's office things like making appointments and maintaining accurate records were beyond frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this train wreck practice to anyone.
Patients could die waiting for an appointment. Novant Health is hands down one of the worst medical providers I’ve ever seen.
Always crowded and their hidden agenda is to get you to come out of pocket for their expensive products. I only visited this office 3 times and each time Christine walks you to the counter so Brandy can sell you a product. Needless to say, visiting this office was a waste my of time. Oh yeah, this office doesn’t specialize in skin care for African American skin disorders. At least Christine does not!
I went in for Gynecomastia surgery, Dr Willard is a master at his profession. The staff there are not only extremely knowledgeable and professional they make you feel like family. I had consultations with several different plastic surgeons and chose Dr Willard because of his experience, knowledge and the way he approached my concerns. If anyone wants to have a procedure done I would consult with a couple of plastic surgeons but make sure you see Dr Willard. Once you meet him and his staff your choice will be an easy one. They are amazing! I can't say enough about how great my experience was.
First off, half of the people you will be scheduled to see are PA (Physicians Assistants) not actual Doctors yet you still pay the same copay as the person next to you who is seeing the doctor. Nearly every time I am in here they try to have a rushed examination and not actually solve the problem so they can schedule you for a follow up and collect the co-pay again. They also overbook so even if you arrive and check in on time, you will be waiting 30-40 minutes for your appointment. Secondly, my concerns were downplayed twice, once by dermatologist PA Christine and second by the plastic surgeon Yanez. Both said my condition "doesn't look too bad" yet they have perfectly clear skin while they say that to you. Just shows a complete detachment with their patient's concerns and their concerns as medical practitioners. Additionally Yanez said: "You think you are a unique case", basically gaslighting me about my acne. Thirdly, after I disclosed my concerns to the nurse on my previous visit she proceeded to leave the room and close the door and the next thing I hear is her discussing my medical conditions with the other nurses and laughing about it. When I never gave permission to discuss my medial condition with other medical staff who weren't personally involved. This is telling because it means when you aren't around the nurse staff are poking fun at their clients. Lastly, when I visited the dermatologist Christine, she quoted me for fraxel treatment stating that since I was concerned with small areas on my face treatment would cost $350, then when I went to follow up with Yanez, he quoted me $1000 for fraxel on an area the size of a nickle on my temple. Again showing that the people here are completely detached from reality and mainly concerned with profitability. I would only recommend coming here if you are an old bag looking to get bolt-ons, otherwise if you are a male or adolescent with concerns about acne look elsewhere. Because they will simply prescribe you something hugely intensive on your liver and kidneys like Accutane (gave me a kidney stone) or a Retinol and schedule you for a follow up in 1-3 months. Effectively wasting $150 (copay 1 $30, copay 2 $30, retinol $90), just for you to be recommended a different type of treatment when no results are seen.
Happy with Dr. Yanez and other staff.
The medical staff seem to be capable. But the location is dirty and the whole operation is completely disorganized. Expect long delays, incorrect billing, inaccurate records, and zero apology. Never again.
Definitely rushed in the exam room and doctor seemed just ok for my skin check. I have a history of skin cancer related issues and my skin check was not as thorough as exams of my past. Nothing great. I will say this 1 star is mostly for the receptionist that I spoke to and dealt with on my phone to make this appointment. Condescending is too nice a word for how they treated me. I only had very simple questions and the woman basically talked to me like a child and hung up on me at the end. Awful and I’ll be finding a more respectful office to take my business to. Avoid.
When I had my procedure (Mohs surgery to my nose and the plastic surgery) I was very disappointed primarily due to the lack of personal interaction with the physicians prior to the event. I take some responsibility since I should have insisted on meeting them to explain what was about to happen. It has now been approximately 6 weeks and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. Dr. Yanez did an excellent job and was very informative in my follow-up visit.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
