Unc Rex Rehabilitation And Nursing Care Center Of Raleigh's Online Review Report Card

I was reluctant about sending my Uncle Bill Osborne to a rehab facility. Like everyone, I've heard the horror stories about how poorly they are treated. To my great surprise, this has not been our experience. To the contrary, my Uncle Bill has some incredible care providers who treat him like "their" Uncle too. Specifically, the team that includes Fantasia, Toya, Sanita, Crystal and Philip have made me sleep comfortably at night knowing that they care for him just like I do when he is at home. Great job to this incredible group of care providers! My only complaint is the ice machine in the community break room has been broken too long and its not kept very clean (machine leaks water regularly on the floor, towels are left on the floor (risk of fall waiting to happen), food trays are left in the room (very odd), etc). This is where family members go for snacks and beverages so it should be kept as clean as our loved ones room. Overall though, the team takes incredible care of my Uncle and they are an awesome group of caregivers!

The social workers at Rex Rehab are such professionals. Some of the best people we have ever worked with.

We had a great experience at Rex Rehab. We would highly recommend it to anyone needing inpatient rehab. My 91-year-old dad was there for 2.5 weeks March 2025 recovering from a fall and broken bones in his legs. All the therapists were excellent. In particular, I’d like to recognize “D. Scott” - one of dad’s physical therapists - and Katie - one of dad’s occupational therapists. They were exceptional. Also, the nursing staff was superb, especially Linda, Geriatric NP, and Mary Sherron, a nurse manager who oversees the wonderful nurses at Rex Rehab. Finally, the food was delicious! Kudos to the kitchen staff for serving lots of different, delicious meals every day.

My mom was recently discharged from Rex Rehab Raleigh and we were extremely happy with the care she was provided. She regularly commented about how nice the staff were and we found them to be extremely responsive. One example of their follow through was when I discussed something with the PT one afternoon and when I spoke with the NP the next morning and asked about it the NP said that the PT had already checked with her and approved the change. Mom enjoyed the food and we found there to be a good variety of items to choose from.

My father was a patient here and the facility is horrible. Staff is slow and has plenty of attitude. If you have a choice go elsewhere. Never saw a single DR the entire 14 days, and they didn't want to do specialist recommended testing. PT / OT are good when they show up. They don't respect their own schedule. Meals are not good for diabetics and they don't do a good job of checking who has eaten and who hasn't. Understaffed and not bathing or showering unless you stay on top of things. Not the place for a patient who is without family support.UNC should be ashamed of this facility!

Without judging the food ..the food was just awful ..all in ..but they work hard to miss it up might be to scare people out ASAP . THE STAFF WAS GREAT TRYING THEIR HELP TO HELP ..PT AND OT MOST PROFFESIONAL SOME ..THEY DONT CARE NONE COULD CHANGE THEM ..TO BE LATE FOR SOME JUST A HAPPIT ..OR FIRST ROLE FOR SOME THERE ..THE BUILDING NEED UPDATES ATLEST FIX WHAT IS BROKEN LIKE SHOWE ROOM ( Tile about to faal down soon My guess mold and….already there ..staff care but high Rank management don’t ) what’s make that place 4 stars ..not the management for sure it’s mostly low rank workers and great nurses ..missing to clean out side doors and windows. .specially beautiful garden space there ..great place but dirty ..how an employee can open his or her window to work in her cube not seeing that mess it’s like 100 year neglected building windows and shutters 🙏🙏👍👍🤫

My Mother posted about Rex Rehab in Raleigh and instead of going into graphic detail these are her experiences of Elder Abuse she did not mention: being talked back to and berated by several nurses, ignored, sitting in her own poop from not being cleaned, poor equipment, "nurses" who do not "touch" the patients - probably bc they are not qualified and scared of law suits, sores that have not been seen since they are not bathing her on a regular basis (should be noted I was handed the cream to put on the sore) - I have been giving her hand baths and she did receive one shower on Monday even though she was told she would have two in one week), flooring coming up in her room (tripped over myself), being forced to stay in a wheelchair, infestation of bugs in her room - which I had to ASK them to come and look at, not assisting her on the bed and just leaving her in the bathroom not helping her pull down her pants or cleaning her properly. Please do not send your loved ones here to stay short term or long term. Nothing is healthy or sanitary. I am praying she is discharged early today. If not I will request a transfer to another facility. Here is an example of the healthy food options brought over in a truck from Apex - I guess Rex Rehab in Raleigh gets leftovers from Rex Rehab in Apex.

I would not even give them one star, but this I had to do to be able to comment. This is an absolutely horrible facility. If you care do NOT send your loved ones here. My mother was here for rehab. She was talked down to, ignored, and berated.The frightening part is it was done in front of me. Imagine what they do when you are not there? She was not cleaned or bathed like she should have been. I had to be there in order for things to get done. The place is unsanitary and all of the equipment is outdated. After five days the final straw so to speak was an infestation of bugs coming out of the ceiling. UNC Healthcare should be ashamed for allowing people to be treated the way they are here. Overall a very dark and gloomy atmosphere and a breeding ground for germs and sickness. I have included a picture of the top notch food. Please take your loved ones out and transfer them to another facility.
