RudeNo bedside manner
Let this incident be known to all current and potential patients of the Saratoga Schenectady Gastroenterology Associates located at 848 Rt. 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12027. On June 24, 2021, a deaf 89 year old patient was denied her appt. with Dr. David Goetz. The patient, being driven to her appt. by a family member, was delayed en route to the appt. by an accident on Rt. 146 in Clifton Park. The patient arrived 8 MINUTES late. The staff member at the front desk SUPPOSEDLY spoke to Dr. Goetz who said the appointment would need to be rescheduled, insisting that she was 10 minutes late. The family member pleaded with the staff member stating that the patient was not feeling well and needed to see the doctor, but was still denied. How cold and callous could Dr. Goetz and his staff be to a deaf, 89 year old patient who had been seeing this doctor for 7 years? Shame on them! Hurt and in tears, the patient asked for a copy of her medical record to seek another gastroenterologist.
Dr. Goetz and his team did a great job. Made me very comfortable and were friendly and caring.
I'm surprised reading the reviews about Dr. Goetz. I found him to be patient in answering my questions and explaining next steps. I got the impression he was managing expectations. As far as making appointments, I blame office management. There must be another system that can manage appointments thoughtfully. I actually think the C-19 has made the Dr.s/advance practioners more available with video appointments. 4 stars for Goetz / 1 star for office management.
Absolute garbage. I get it - it's just a job and he doesn't have to be available 24 x 7, but he isn't even available during office hours. You can't even leave a voicemail during their lunch hour. I mean what is that about? Not only does he just not care about his patients, it's so money driven. When you have to schedule an endoscopy, he is ALL ears and his team is SO there for you. But god forbid you just have a question or want a scrip refill over the phone where he clearly wouldn't make money. Then you can just forget about hearing back from him. Beyond all of that, I believe that he has good clinical knowledge. I'm sure he could diagnose you etc. but so could the next GI. He and his staff are inconvenient, selfish, and have very poor interpersonal skills. All in all, it's a horrible experience.
He tells it like it is. If I wanted to be molly coddled I would have seen a social worker. He may seem cold but he isn’t. He’s a fine doctor with experience and does a great job with his patients.
Dr.Getz performed a Colonoscopy & Endoscopy on me over the course of a year. He is a very skilled physician and did his very best to make me informed of the procedures and aftercare. Dr.Getz is to the point and doesn't mix words or get touchy freely when dealing with my care. I didn't want a condescending demeanor from my doctor and was very pleased in getting the best care without holding my hand and patting me on the head just to make me feel good. Dr.Getz does what he says he's going to do and does it and that's all you should expect from a professional.Thank You Dr.Getz!
Honestly the visit was horrible. It’s so hard to schedule with him. I never get my issues solved there, but when I take the same problem to another doctor, they seem to have an answer right away. You can’t access him over the phone for a simple prescription update, or even for a quick 5 minute chat. He really doesn’t seem like he cares about his patients. Honestly I’ve had a GI doc my whole life because I’ve always had GI problems, and I literally could not recommend him less. Easily the worst doctor I have ever had.
I found Dr.Goetz to be a very good professional as is his staff. He explained the procedure fully and felt very comfortable. He did what I expected a specialist to do. The whole experience was what I expected. A procedure completed in the way it should have been done. No bells or whistles just great care.
His practice cannot find time to send script authorizations within a reasonable time-frame. I have to call multiple times to get them to finally do it and the staff is rude and inflexible when trying to schedule appointments.
Dr. Goetz does less than the minimum. I had to have a repeat procedure because he only did half the first time. When we learned my condition was serious, the second procedure was scheduled so he could finish what he knew he didn't do the first time. Imagine that with the added stress of a serious diagnosis. His bedside manner is terrible, he treated my wife terribly, and his deliver of bad diagnosis and guidance through next steps was deplorable. I will never go to him again. Avoid.
If I could give Dr. Goetz zero stars, I would. He was very dismissive of my concerns, and would only prescribe a treatment plan that already wasn't working (horrific side effects of liver toxicity, fatigue [sleeping 16 hours/day] and short term memory loss), and wouldn't consider other treatment options because the would be harmful to a foetus if I (a woman married to another woman AND taking birth control [what can I say, I hate cramps]) were to get pregnant. He said there was "still a risk" that it could happen or that my wife wouldn't be able to conceive and then I would want to carry (which I told him we had already discussed and decided that we would adopt in that case). In addition, every other specialist I have spoken with since agrees that the treatment plan he had me on was complete overkill and unnecessary. I have switched to another doctor in the same practice and am MUCH happier.
Dr. Goetz was very pleasant, meet with me both before and after procedure. Although due to weather, running about a 1.5 hrs behind schedule. I didn't feel I was being rushed.
Where do I begin careless lazy not concerned about patient health. I have had an illness for two years now with no sign of getting better I went in for an endoscopy the guy was playing on his dam phone. After countless calls countles visits. He admits something it wrong and that I can't work but his own words I don't like to fill out paperwork for disability.I'm on the verge of losing everything I have ,my house, bank took the car already ,and all I want to do is get better so I can work.
Obviously does not care about you. I saw him while in Saratoga Hospital. He came in my room, introduced himself and told me he was taking me for an endoscopy that afternoon. Never saw him after ( and I had an ulcer).
I had seen Dr. Goetz while a patient at Saratoga Hospital. He came in the room, introduced himself, told me he was taking me for an endoscopy that afternoon and never saw him after the procedure (and I had an ulcer). Definitely would NOT recommend him. The office staff was rude when I tried to make a follow up appt after discharge from the hospital, which I did not make. Does not care about you.
Severely lacking in the bedside manner department. Doesn't take the time to explain the "why, how, etc", had to find my answers elsewhere.
Although Dr. Goetz's bedside manner isn't the greatest, he is a very good doctor and I would recommend him and the staff at the Burnt Hills facility.
I have met Dr. Goetz three times in person and once by phone. At no time did I feel that he cared about me or my medical situation. He insisted on scheduling me for procedures that I made me fearful and when I told him they sounded "unpleasant" his response was "yes, it is unpleasant". I would like a doctor who will at least attempt to put my mind at ease a little bit so that I don't have to endure anxiety attacks and nightmares for weeks prior to a procedure. Instead, this doctor used scare tactics and threats of a worsened medical condition to force me into these appointments. I think he was absent on kindness and compassion day at med school! Also, when I asked to schedule an appointment with a different doctor in the office my request was denied. I'm looking for a new doctor as we speak!
