W James Smith does not have an adequate amount of comments to generate the sentiment analysis.
I saw Dr Smith today for a injured wrist (which had been repaired once before) and an infected elbow. Dr Smith was very thorough and took excellent care of me. He drained the fluid from my elbow and recommend I go back to the doctor who preformed my surgery for an opinion on my wrist. He seemed to genuinely care about my well-being and I did not feel rushed at all. He took time to explain what he was doing and why, as well as give instructions as to what I should do if things get worse over the weekend. He is not one for small talk, but I am not there for entertainment. I think he is an excellent doctor and would go back to see him in the future if need be.
I had both shoulder and elbow surgery with Dr. Smith and both recovered nicely and I am pain free.
Rude horrible person.
I had a simple “Carpel Tunnel release” surgery performed by W. James Smith, MD and it’s been a total nightmare. My hand is 5 times worse and the organization as a whole is completely overwhelmed!I wouldn’t go there again for any comprehensive health care. Period!
Rushed appointment. Did not explain or even show where my hand was fractured. Left the room and did not supervise a very inexperienced nurse to put on my hand brace. It was done wrong and cant get a hold of him to fix it. This boomer needs to retire
My wife had Dr. W. James Smith do surgery on her Left thumb 3 years ago. Her thumb is now worse than before and is hanging off the bone. This Dr. Is no good and i am talking to my wife about suing this person. When we tryed to talk to him about this he said she needs physical therapy I'm a thumb that's disconnected from the bone. That would have made it worse. We will be talking to a lawyer.
The first problem is the x-ray we had taken earlier at another location was not on their computers and this was not discovered until the appt in Malta, so we had to cancel the first appt and get a cd of the x-ray ourselves and bring it. But even worse was our second appt. with Dr. Smith in Colonie who was extremely rude and disrespectful. I think he would prefer that his patients say nothing and ask nothing. He was thrown by my simple questions, and, instead of answering them clearly, seemed threatened by them. I actually had to ask him during the appt. to be respectful. The supervisor was extremely kind, intelligent, and apologetic and is looking into the entire matter. He also seemed to think we were a nuisance because he was in the middle of a deposition and they were all waiting for him. Very poor communicator, easily threatened by innocent questions, and rude.
Arrogant attitude, poor assessment skills. He left me in a cast that was so loose I could have slipped it off. Because of this rx worsened.
Worse doctor I have ever encountered! It was extremely difficult to get him to answer any questions or explain anything. He just wants to rush you out and have you come back in another week or two. He never spent more than 5 minutes per visit.
I have seen Dr. Smith several times before. Today he was beyond rude. He said "I'm a surgeon, and if you don't need surgery, I can't help you." Good to know. I wasn't planning on having surgery today. I may need surgery in the future, but if I do you can rest assured that I will never have this man do it.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
