Made an appointment for 84 year old man suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia pain, aka "the suicide disease" at NSPC Commack. NSPC said Dr Mechanic is the specialist in this area. The day prior, I took 1/2 hour to complete online forms through the portal. Day of appt thought it was odd I did not receive confirmation of the appt. I called first thing in the AM to confirm and was told appt was scheduled. Instructions for the appt are to go to office, park and call to inform the office of your arrival and you will be called back when you can enter. 10:45 appt, arrived and called at 10:37 Had to go through voice prompts to voice mail - NO Reply. Waited and called again a little later and was switched to Dr. Mechanic's office and had to leave another message. Waiting as we all do for Dr's, I waited till 11:19 to call a THIRD time. This time the phone was answered by a person and the staff had no idea we were waiting. Reluctantly, we proceeded and entered the office building. Upon arrival, we were told that the online forms that I filled out the day prior were not YET available and as a result would have to fill out the stack of paper work again. At this point it was near to 11:30 and our patience were tried and we abruptly left. While we all understand the impact and work required as a result the VIRUS, the check-in system is grossly deficient and unprofessional. There was plenty of staff at work and they should be trained to regularly check voice mails since this is the system that they have in place. If the office runs this inefficiently how good is the physician?
5 minute visit. I knew my C1-7 was a mess. I brought documentation. His parting words were, basically; "why was I wasting his time". At least he didn't suggest suicide.
Dr mechanic and his team are excellent. They are kind and explained every step of my procedure and assured me that they were available at any time should I have any concerns. The office staff is wonderful also.
This is hands down the worst experience of my life with a doctor! I paid 60 dollars for this man to tell me he cant do anything to wait 6 more months and see if it goes away. i haven't been able to sleep in weeks my left side and leg hurt so bad i can barely stand after sitting. I brought my MRI and all my exams, he just brushed me off with no guidance nor solution. Do not go to his office find a better doctor who knows what he is really doing and willing to resolve the issue!
Back in 1996 Dr Mechanic operated on my Father, who was in a bad car accident on the Northern State Pkwy.....I received a phone call from Winthrop Hospital and all we knew was that he was being operated on...when it was over, Dr Mechanic came down to the waiting room....introduced himself to me, my Mom and my Aunt which led to a very comical situation he introduced himself and my Aunt Gloria just looked at him and said "You gotta' be kidding me !!" I'm sure that wasn't the first time he heard that !! but he ended up piecing my Fathers skull back together and my Father has been fine ever since....he's 85 and still going strong thanks to Dr Mechanic....on behald of my whole family....THANK YOU and God bless you Doc....we couldn't have asked for a more caring and gifted Doctor and also a very nice guy....God bless Doc
My experience was not what I expected from this referral. I did not feel like I was being heard for the seriousness of my condition. Only to find out my MRI report was written incorrectly by the Radiologist and even though the disc was submitted and the time of my appointed it was overlooked as well. I do not feel I got an accurate diagnosis because missed information was not reviewed.
dr.Mechanic did my spine surgery on c7-8, I thought I was going to be paralyzed from neck down thats how serious/bad it felt. I am back to normal and don't even feel I had 5 hour surgery done with titanium plate and 3 screws in my neck...amazing....Thanks Doc : )
