Dr. Smith fixed my gastric fistula. He did an excellent job. I found him pleasant & to the point. You’ll be in “good hands” with this excellent surgeon!

Dr. Terrence Smith was very professional. He did not stop until he found a solution to my husband's gastrointestinal bleed. Vanderbilt Hospital was a little slow calling him even though he was our doctor. I eventually had to search through my cards and call his office myself to let his office we were in the emergency trauma unit. Dr. Smith was very thorough, attentive, and aggressive, which is the kind of doctor you need during a crisis.

Dr. Smith was awesome!! Fixed my gastro fistula. I found him to be pleasant. You’re in “good hands” with this surgeon!!
Saw Dr Smith on a referral from my local gastroenterologist to remove a polyp that she was unable to remove. When I met him, he had no idea why I was seeing him! Then said he wouldn't be able to remove it either - even before trying. I was so taken aback, I felt like leaving.
He sucks he does not make an eye contact with patient. He does not communicate well with the patient or his family. He hardly makes any attempt to find out about the patients condition and his past medical history. He walks in and walks out of the room not saying anything or probabaly he may not know how to treat the patients illness. I dont know how he passed out with a 3.6 GPA and how Vanderbilt had employed him. I dont recommend him to anybody.

After an ultrasound found I had gallstones and a large polyp in my gallbladder my nurse practitioner referred me to Dr. Smith to get an opinion on how to proceed. The front office staff and nurses were very courteous and my wait time was short to see the Dr. However he stormed into the room exclaiming he did not know why I was there to see him that I just need surgery to remove the gallbladder. I was obviously quite taken aback and told him I was referred to him to discuss my options he informed me I had no options but surgery referred me to a surgeon and left the room. He never examined me and barely looked me in the eye during the maybe 5 minutes he spent with me. Even though I did in fact need surgery as the polyp was so big his delivery of the news and attitude towards me was horrible.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
