The staff was great but it felt like I was experiencing some micro aggression from the doctor. Although I'm glad to know that my injury isn't as serious as I was previously informed, it seemed as though how I was feeling was downplayed. The doctor assumed I wanted to lean towards receiving disability instead of trying to fix the problem which isn't the case at all. I was referred to her by the hospital ER. She basically said physical therapy would fix every problem I have. I felt as though she didn't want to be bothered with a new injury since it somewhat interfered with a past injury that's going thru litigation. I didn't feel heard or seen.
Everyone was very friendly. And nice. Checked on me to make sure I was ok,apologized for being so behind.
Wonderful care all around. From the front desk, to the nurses, to Dr Shakir, I have always had a wonderful experience. They really listen to you, hear your concerns, and involve you in the decisions about your care. This is something to truly value and sadly something that is becoming harder to find. I have been a patient for many years and I wouldn't want to go to anyone else. I trust Dr Shakir and his staff and appreciate the effort they put in every day to make their patients feel comfortable, heard, and well cared for. They are willing to go the extra mile to care for their patients, even in small but personally important ways. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for quality, thorough, and honest care.
All staff were welcoming and very helpful. Nurse and Dr were very professional and explained options and services needed for treatment and also other options. Also made sure that you understood and needed help or questions to call without hesitation.
Very satisfied excellent 👍
Dr Downes is the best. She went over my MRI with me and actually showed me all the layered images of my spine and where the nerve was pinched. I got more information from her in 30 minutes than I have gotten in 10 plus years. Everyone involved took great care of me. If you need a neurosurgeon, Dr Downes at Texas Health Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists is for you.
The wait was a bit long, but not excessive. The doctor was good at explaining things to me about the cause of my condition and its resolution. This was my discharge from his care.
I appreciate the listening and real concern for my health problems with Dr Downs.
Dr Downes was very down to earth and made me feel comfortable. She gave me some options on my health action plan. I strongly recommend her. The staff was friendly and helpful 10 stars for Dr Downes and her staff.
Charm is a jewel. Her genuine concern for others is apparent even over the phone. The kindness and attentiveness she displayed made me feel like I’d made the perfect caregiver choice before I even met the nurse or doctor. Lynn and Dr. Downes were caring, knowledgeable, and focused on me “the patient,”. I felt truly heard and seen. As a senior citizen, that is something I search for and seldom find in healthcare providers.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
