Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center's Online Review Report Card

I came for 1 appointment last year. I was born with eye issues, have had a handful of surgeries, and in recent years have developed new abnormal problems. When I called to set up the appointment, I requested to see an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. I was told I have to see an optometrist first and if they deem it fit they will pass me along to the ophthalmologist. Went to the appointment where they did tests for disease. They did multiple pressure tests that I should have declined because it was so uncomfortable and stressful. I couldn't hold still because I started freaking out. They also dilated my eyes which was painful because of all the work I've had done in the past. I only approved the dilation because I was desperate to figure out what was wrong. Shouldn't have done that. Eventually the optometrist came in, looked at my eyes, and said "You're fine, your eyes look healthy to me. Any other questions?". I was shocked. I asked her about the list of issues I was having, to which she shrugged off. I asked for a referral to a specialist and was told "We don't do referrals here". I learned from this experience that medical gaslighting is real. My eyes were sore for a week after the pressure tests. I cried the first two days from how strong the pain was. I called and spoke to a tech on the phone, who told me to use lubricant eye drops. My eyes weren't dried out and I use lubricant eye drops daily anyway. I followed her instructions and saw no improvement. Had to wait until the pain naturally wore off. I paid $230 out of pocket with no insurance just to be told "you're fine". I wish I could get my money back for this appointment, but I know that isn't a thing. Only thing I can do now is warn others to stay away. I went to a different doctor and got answers to literally all of my problems. My eye health is improving now, thanks to the help of a different facility. Barnet Dulaney used to be leaders in eye care - they aren't anymore. Waste of my time, energy, money, and tears.

I've been seeing Doctor Berry for about 5 years now for my annual eye exam. She is the most thorough and caring person when it comes to vision care.

I am so sick of all the constant rescheduling this place has done to me. I have been trying to get a mass removed from my eye for over a year and now when I'm scheduled for procedure over winter break, they have to reschedule it and I have to wait till spring break because anyone who can give me a ride is a teacher like me and it's hard enough for one of us to take a day off, let alone two of us!

Dr Stephen and his assistants are awsome

The nurse assistant was so rude to answer questions and very impatient. She doesn't want the patient to revisit if the issue is persistent. Very bad experience

The experience with Dr. Hutchings and her assistant (my apologies for forgetting her name) was outstanding. She asked a simple but important question, “is everything ok and can I help you (my wife and I) with anything. Good customer service is rare but the staffs warmth, attentiveness and attention to detail will keep me coming back. Thank you Dr. Hutchings and staff.

They were very thorough. Never had so many eye tests in my life. Which is a good thing. All staff except the front desk employees were wonderful. Front desk was not caring or helping people as they came in. Just talking amongst themselves. They had no care that people needed help at the kiosk, etc.

Office was so efficiently ran it was almost amazing. The staff and doctor Stephens were friendly and addressed my concerns.

It was a good experience. They were prompt and also professional. I will certainly keep them as my eye doctors.
