List of Massachusetts Eye Associates's Reviews
Yesterday we requested the Pupillary Distance (PD) number needed to order glasses during my son's exam in the Chelmsford office and were refused. Again we asked the floor staff afterwards if they could do this and they also refused because we were not buying glasses from Massachusetts Eye Associates. MEA is very clearly NOT in compliance with the policies and guidelines of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry which states this must be provided upon request.
Asked several times and was refused PD when obtaining a prescription for my son today even though this is required in Alaska, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. They do this to try and force people to buy glasses from them. I will be reporting this.
I was very hesitant on posting this review but I do feel that my first experience at this location needs to be heard. I do not want other people in my position to experience what I had experienced. I was very torn after the appointment. I was treated so poorly by a technician with white blonde hair who looked to be in her 60s. I was assisting my grandmother who was disabled and she had no patience for us. She made me feel so dumb and embarrassed throughout the entire appointment and I wasn't able to translate for my grandmother properly because of how passive aggressive she was. Mind you this was our first time here and we were only here for a routine check up. I wish I could go into detail about what exactly happened on this review but google does not allow to go pass a certain amount of characters. I did speak with the office manager and tried to get the name of the technician but they couldn't share that information but I really hope disciplinary action was taken after how she treated us. I can't sit in silence and let this not be shared incase it happens to someone like me in my position. If you are having a bad day, please do not take it out on patients that had nothing to do with your bad day. If you are in a field that deals with helping people everyday, you should know how to be able to cope with your feelings rather than taking it out on patients that are seeking medical assistance.
I had an urgent appointment scheduled and was told the day before late in the day I needed a referral. I rescheduled the appointment and obtained the referral. The day of my rescheduled appointment I showed up on time and was told my appointment was cancelled as the doctor was not in (the appointment was on a Friday...what a coincidence). They claim they sent a text message, but did not. My appointment which was urgent was then scheduled out to August 10, 2023. I asked for the office manager to call me to discuss, but no one called. Today I called to confirm my appointment and I was on hold for over 12 minutes before someone picked up. I was told I would need a new referral as my doctor has changed (not that the original doctor is not longer employed their, but his is scheduling appointment in February of next year). Not sure at this point how to change doctor and get a new practice as I have lens implants done by Mass Eye Associates. I continue to encounter terrible customer service from this company. I would not give any stars for this review, but to post I had to pick one.
Excellent service, caring people, highly recommended
Been going there since my buckle surgery 5 years ago to see their specialists and get regular contacts and glasses. Great place, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
Been going to Mass eye for years. I see Dr Kim or Dr Yi. Both are phenomenal and very kind but also great surgeons as well. Not big talkers but great at what they do. Reception is nice and check in can be done by scanning qr code with cell phone. Bookings are done many months out.
Went to see Dr. Bolliger for a very sore left eye. Had to wait over 30 minutes and my eye was throbbing and any light was killing me. He said I had a tear and gave me a gel antibiotic and no pain killer even though my eye was throbbing and I had to keep closed. Luckily my cousin is an ophthalmologist in Oregon and was able called in Ofloxacin and Ketorolac Tromethamine. Felt better in 30 minutes. Useless!
While the staff was very professional, my surgeon behaved very unprofessionally when he handed me a letter proselytizing his religion. Avoid this practice if that isn't what you want from your doctor.
Dr Kim was fantastic. Very professional and thorough. Had a very pleasant experience with the clinic and most of all Dr Kim. His right hand girl and he make a perfect team

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
