The communication is exceptionally poor, and there was a noticeable absence of empathy during the scheduling process, as well as a general lack of care.

We were very well taken care of for labor and delivery. Births rarely go to plan but we are fortunate that ours did and that the nurses and midwives were wonderful during the whole process.

I’ve been seeing my OB for over 20 years and have always had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, over the past year, NYU has made being part of this network incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially during pregnancy. During my first pregnancy, everything was smooth. This time, NYU is making it extremely difficult to be a working mother. I’m now required to attend additional, redundant ultrasounds at a separate NYU MFM office on top of my regular OB appointments. My doctor—who I trust completely—has confirmed that my pregnancy is healthy and progressing normally, yet NYU insists these extra MONTHLY scans are “policy.” The MFM office itself is wildly understaffed (their own words), making it nearly impossible to get appointments and often requiring long waits. It’s incredibly disruptive to take extra time off work, arrange childcare, and attend back-to-back appointments for unnecessary procedures. It feels excessive, invasive, and like a way to bill insurance twice a month instead of once. NYU should be ashamed of how they are treating pregnant patients—especially those juggling work and family. This is not patient-centered care. It’s a system that prioritizes bureaucracy over people.

Place is an absolute disaster when it comes to scheduling and keeping appointments on time. Add to it the other screaming mamas-to-be in the lobby because the scheduling is bad for everyone and you have an incredibly frustrating and stressful situation every time you are in the office.

The medical staff is great and attentive but unfortunately the scheduling team is PAINFUL. I'm in the process of finding another practice because of how brutal the scheduling experience is. Every time a Dr says we need this appointment during this time period the scheduling team says "sorry there are no appointments during that time. Someone will call you back." And I have yet to receive 1 single call back from this place. I call almost daily now and have spent over 10 hrs waiting on hold or trying to escalate my calls to people who can actually help me and I STILL have outstanding appointments. I'd look for any other practice to avoid the added stress of trying to schedule these very important and timely appointments.

My health insurance isn’t great, so I had limited options. The office is pretty and contrary to other peoples experiences, I found the front desk staff to be nice and accommodating. My problem is with the OBs. You see a different one every appointment for your pregnancy, and to be honest they are bullies. I feel I was forced to have a c section at 37 weeks…when I pushed back over and over they kept saying it was full term and that my baby would not go to the NICU. During an elective NYU zoom class about c sections the nurses kept calling 37 weeks “pre term”. I asked why, when the doctors kept telling me to relax about 37 weeks because it was full term. These NYU nurses were shocked at this and said the baby was likely to go to the NICU because their lungs were not fully developed. Another class attendee piped up and said she was going through the same thing, and when she was not feeling heard she decided to leave NYU and go to another hospital to eventually deliver. Turns out that since NYU had declared 37 weeks as the magical number for delivery, other hospitals refused to go against that advice due to legal liability, so the woman felt forced to return to NYU. Spoiler alert: my baby was in the NICU due to underdeveloped lungs for 9 days and it was extremely traumatic. When I went for my 6 week appointment I laid out how unheard I felt and how upset I was at how I was treated. The midwife who ran the appointment marked me down as “depressed” (I only saw this later in the notes, she didn’t say this to me) and then never properly followed up. So on top of everything, they ignored what they felt was post partum depression. I get that the medical system is broken and that these doctors are probably desensitized and burnt out but if you want a pregnancy and birth experience where you are treated like a person whose opinion matters at all, steer clear of this office.

I’m on my second high risk prgenancy with this team and I have been so touched by how well they have treated me through this process. My interactions with EVERYONE - from the director of the dept, to the doctor I work with (Dr Lee) , to the genetic counselor, schedulers, and ultrasound techs—- have been nothing but positive. I am on my 4th pregnancy with a history of multiple losses, so I have seen my fair share of care providers, and I can’t express what an incredible and knowledgeable team this is. Very lucky to have found them.

The most amazing experience at this practice. All the doctors are extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough. They genuinely have your best interest at heart. It’s easy to schedule an appointment. Wait time is minimal. I highly recommend!
