Let me preface this with sharing that I have extensive knowledge & experience in working in & around the medical arena; My husband was referred to Dr. Mammen for evaluation of ongoing chest discomfort. BEFORE he was even seen for the first appointment his office called and tried to set him up with their nurse practitioner. After another call was placed to his office, we were able to get his appointment put back with an "MD". Dr. Mammen decided to proceed with angiogram & stent placement after visiting with my husband at his FIRST visit. The ONLY tests done prior to the first angiogram was an EKG (which he was told was NORMAL). No functional testing (echocardiogram, CT Angiogram, stress tests or blood work) were done to confirm any heart damage. After learning that BOTH major coronary arteries were blocked, Dr. Mammen decided to only do one stent and bring him back a week later for the second one. We were instructed to call his office and set everything up the following day. It took FIVE phone calls from me and a SIXTH phone call back from his office to get him scheduled. At his followup appointment ZERO functional testing was done and echocardiogram was scheduled 4 weeks out with a followup appointment scheduled 2 1/2 months later. It is our opinion that Dr. Mammen either does not care about the lives of his patients and/or is too busy. We have found a cardiologist that WILL take care of my husband and happy to report that we FIRED Dr. Mammen.
