Last week my young daughter had tubes put in her ears. Not an uncommon event in the life of a toddler, but still it is a little nerve wracking to a mother when they put your child under, albeit hysterical when they are on the mild sedative given to them to calm them down.
But Dr. Mowery was GREAT. He has surgery's booked on specific days so he stacks them up, I was envisioning an assembly line when I was told that my daughters procedure would be on Thursday any time between 7 AM and 11 AM depending on her age. Really, just line them up and bang, bang, bang? What about my daughter's needs? What do I do next? What happens if there is a delay in the previous patient and my daughter has to go under again (remember I pictured an assembly line).
Well I was TOTALLY wrong. First, even though we weren't the first patient to go in, Dr. Mowery came out and talked to me with the anesthesiologist before the procedure which was expected. What I didn't expect was the time spent after the procedure since I knew he had a group of patients stacked up. This was a normal, frequent procedure to him, I am sure he does 20 a week, but he remembered that this was my first time, and it was my daughter on that table. He was so helpful with his explanations, so thorough in his process, he really spent time I wasn't expecting with me to make sure I was comfortable with what he had done. I am sure you are thinking to yourself, isn't this what doctor's are suppose to do? Well yes, but in a time when insurance companies dictate the time and effort allowed by our physicians, that is always the case, and Dr. Mowery proves to be an exception to the norm these days.
By the power vested in me as a mother, I now pronounce him the best Ear, Nose and Throat Pediatric Doctor in Franklin!! (though I think his practice is not limited to just kids)
